Overview

Microsoft is hiring a Senior Data Scientist to support our HR organization! Do you enjoy developing innovative data science solutions to solve big problems? Are you passionate about enabling data-based decisions to tackle strategic challenges? We are looking for someone to do just that in the context of Microsoft's biggest asset - our people.

This is an opportunity to join our evolving HR Business Insights (HRBI) Data & Applied Sciences (DAS) team as we forge leading practices in people analytics - important work that helps Microsoft empower every person and organization on the planet to achieve more. In this role, you will help HRBI in its partnership with Engineering to provide insights on how engineers can thrive at Microsoft, by studying their sentiment and behavior. On the DAS team, you will pioneer novel applications of causal modeling, machine learning, statistics, and AI to help support more data-driven people and organization decisions. You will use your rich data science toolkit in causal modeling, advanced statistics, and forecasting to drive proactive recommendations on how to make our engineers more productive and empowered. The candidate will also deliver business impact through data-backed storytelling and visualization creation, and they will be driven by their intellectual curiosity, self-starter mentality, and hunger for impactful work.

This position is subject to Microsoft's Flexible Work Policy.

  • Be a subject matter expert in causal modeling, advanced statistics, and forecasting. Understand which part of your data science toolkit (coding, modeling, data engineering, and visualization) to deploy when answering business questions while meeting stakeholder needs and timelines.
  • Explain to both technical and lay audiences which methods you are using, why, and what insights you found. Translate complex technical findings into succinct, actionable business insights, often in coordination with partners who help you tell a holistic story.
