Job Title: SAS Developer

Location: Whippany, NJ ( 3 days Hybrid )

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced SAS Developer with strong expertise in data analysis, process optimization, and secure handling of sensitive data. This role focuses on analyzing and improving SAS processes, implementing tokenization/detokenization for Personally Identifiable Information (PII), and ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in SAS programming, SQL, and modern data management practices.

Key Responsibilities

• SAS Script and Dataset Analysis :
• Review and interpret complex SAS scripts to understand logic, workflows, and dependencies.
• Analyze SAS datasets to identify PII attributes and their usage.
• Document findings and provide clear process summaries for reference.
• PII Tokenization and Detokenization :
• Implement secure tokenization techniques to protect sensitive PII data.
• Develop detokenization processes for controlled retrieval of original PII data.
• Ensure alignment with data privacy standards (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and organizational security policies.
• Optimization of Legacy SAS Code :
• Evaluate and refactor legacy SAS code to improve efficiency and scalability.
• Eliminate redundancies and adopt modern SAS programming best practices.
• Enhance performance, maintainability, and modularization of existing processes.
• SQL Data Analysis and Validation :
• Write advanced SQL queries for data profiling, reconciliation, and validation.
• Conduct data integrity checks on tokenized/detokenized datasets.
• Support ad-hoc reporting and business-driven data analysis.
• Collaboration and Documentation:
• Work with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Produce detailed documentation for SAS code modifications and tokenization processes.
• Provide recommendations for ongoing improvements in PII data governance.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field (Master s preferred).

Experience:

• 7+ years as a SAS Developer with focus on data analysis and optimization.
• Strong track record in analyzing/modifying SAS scripts and handling sensitive data.
• Hands-on experience with tokenization/detokenization and secure data environments.
• Proven ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in SAS (Base SAS, Macros, SAS/STAT, SAS/GRAPH).
• Strong SQL expertise with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2).
• Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
• Familiarity with security techniques (encryption, tokenization, access controls).
• Exposure to ETL tools and data integration platforms is a plus.

• Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with SAS Enterprise Guide, Data Integration Studio, or SAS Viya.
• Knowledge of cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
• Familiarity with Python or R for data analysis.
• SAS Certifications (e.g., Base Programmer, Advanced Programmer).
