ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

Summary

You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the Engineering and Planning Department of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze. Duties

Help

• You will act as an engineering advisor to the Branch Head and/or Division Head.
• You will oversee and develop personnel training for the Division/Branch.
• You will regularly analyze various databases and metrics to determine problems and initiate corrective action.
• You will work with other codes and shops to identify, develop, and implement process improvement initiatives.
• You will be the Division's point of contact for work status and trouble reports.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of SPECIALIZED experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector resolving technical engineering problems and implementing process improvement initiatives using engineering processes such as Key Audit Process Programs, Advanced Industrial Management (AIM), Deficiency Logs (DLs), or Departure from specification (DFS), to maintain the functionality of ship systems.

Additional information

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

This position requires exposure to high noise levels.
