Product Engineer III - Salt Lake City, UT

Responsibilities

Support initiatives for continuous process and product improvements. Work to improve performance of manufacturing systems, e.g. Yield, cycle-time, quality requirements, maintenance's needs. Support project timelines and milestones and bring them to completion on time and within budget. Assist in completion of capa tasks and deliverables (corrective and preventive). Identify and qualify "end-of-life" components, evaluating new parts, suppliers, and manufacturers. Represent sustaining engineering to identify possible product modifications to improve manufacturability and impact on production processes. Initiate and manage projects with adherence to program management guidelines. Coordinate efforts with the materials group to assess vendors and provide materials technical information. Conducts independent analysis and develops solutions to problems. Develops approaches and designs where precedent usually exists. Performs developmental and/or test work that relies heavily on a comprehensive knowledge of theory and design. Writes detailed design specifications, such as, incoming inspection, drawings, assembly specifications. Assists in training new/current employees with respect to documentation, use of equipment, laboratory techniques and department procedures. Delivers communications tailored to the needs of the receiver (managers, peers, customers) with appropriate frequency to maximize its utility and promote cross-functional collaboration. Work on special projects as they arise, such as new product introduction, medical devices software updates. *Working from home is permitted. When not working from home, must report to Salt Lake City, UT office.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field plus Four (4) years of experience in the job offered or closely related occupation OR Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field plus Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or closely related occupation.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess expertise/knowledge sufficient to adequately perform the duties of the job being offered Expertise/knowledge may be gained through employment experience or education. Such expertise/knowledge cannot be "quantified" by "time." Required expertise/knowledge includes: Knowledge of strength of materials, automation, plastic injection molding, part assembly, fixturing, testing, and process control techniques; Knowledge of SolidWorks to interpret part dimensions, sectional views, conduct mates, build assemblies; Experience with six-sigma methodology (DOE, Process Capability, Gage R&R); Experience using Minitab software for analysis; Experience in production line set up, creation and/or modification of manufacturing procedures; Device History Record set up for new medical devices; Device History Record maintenance for current devices; Familiarity with IEC 60601-1 standards; Experience with analog circuits, including application of passive and active components (resistor, inductor, capacitor, transistor, diode), application of common integrated circuits (microprocessor, analog to digital convertor, digital to analog convertor, buffer, OpAmp).
