Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer to join our team as a Resident Engineer in Kitimat, BC, Canada. This is a long-term contract opportunity to support our key client on-site, delivering advanced automation and control system solutions.

As a Field Service Engineer, you will play a critical role in system troubleshooting, upgrades, modifications, and expansions of Yokogawa s Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and SCADA platforms. Your hands-on expertise will help drive operational excellence and ensure customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site technical support for Yokogawa control and safety systems (Centum VP, ProSafe-RS, etc.)

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware, software, HMI, control strategies, logic, and instrumentation

  • Perform system upgrades, modifications, and expansions

  • Analyze customer requirements and design control solutions accordingly

  • Maintain and document control system architecture, I/O interfaces, and network topology

  • Conduct operational tests and system verifications

  • Support project execution and participate in engineering and client meetings

  • Adhere to Yokogawa s ISO, GES, and safety procedures

  • Provide timely and detailed service reports and feedback

  • Manage and maintain assigned tools, equipment, and Yokogawa property

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Engineering or related discipline with 8+ years of experience
    (OR Master s degree with 6+ years)

  • Proven experience in process control system implementation and support

  • Hands-on expertise with Yokogawa DCS/SIS/SCADA systems

  • Strong knowledge of control system hardware, logic development, and HMI design

  • Familiarity with industrial instrumentation and protocols (HART, Modbus, etc.)

  • Ability to troubleshoot industrial networks, including switches, firewalls, and communication issues

  • Strong communication and documentation skills

  • Willingness to be based full-time in Kitimat, BC

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada (no sponsorship available)

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Heavy Process Industries

  • Knowledge of safety systems, alarm management, and cybersecurity best practices

  • ISA/IEC 61511 or TV certification

  • Familiarity with Yokogawa engineering tools and builder functions
