We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Collection(DC) Lead to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in data collection/user research, comprehensive experience leading and scaling impactful teams, and a passion for developing R&D technologies.

Description The successful candidate will have excellent analytical and communication skills, a hands-on "no task too big or small" approach, and will thrive in high pressure, high performance data-driven organizations. In this role you will work full time, on site with our growing data collection, user research, SW engineering, and CVML research teams. This position involves hands-on data collections at scale, and know-how to leverage critical observational skills while gathering data directly and indirectly through teams. You're hands on, comfortable working independently, but also thrive collaborating with highly technical teams on accelerated timelines. Success involves being detail oriented, self- motivated, having a high tolerance for change/ambiguity in partnerships with a strong sense of empathy for your team and participants. Your success is heavily derived from the strength of your relationships. Your job responsibilities will include * Work with cross functional teams to develop data asks and privacy/confidentiality/safety/legal requirements. * Lead data collection solution development to transform complicated data asks and privacy/confidentiality/safety/legal requirements into a clear and executable data collection solution. * Define data collection HW/SW infrastructure specification and align with cross functional teams to ensure technical performance, usability, and stability. * Design and implement DC project management and risk control process. * Design and implement efficient budget management and cost control. * Design and implement continuous training plan to provide sufficient operation, protocol and HW/SW handling and clear documentations to DC teams. * Lead and supervise teams and data collection vendors to execute data collection and deliver complete and accurate data. * Develop data quality control process, monitor data quality and ensure data integrity throughout the data collection process. * Work with SW and CVML engineers to support data evaluation, curation, and annotation process. * Develop and drive the feedback loop from data consumers to data collection. * Drive process improvements across the organization to continuously improve the way we work.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree or above in a relevant field or equivalent industry experience required. Relevant field = Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, AIML, HW/SW Engineering, Data Science
  • Minimum 6 years experience in large scale, in-the-wild, data collection management.
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams and external vendors to deliver large scale data collections.
  • Excellent project management, communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Extensive project and vendor management experience for scaled field data collections.
  • Resourceful, creative, results oriented with a strong sense of accountability.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism while working with others and making adjustment suggestions in sensitive situations.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving & critical thinking capacities, thinking outside the box in order to gain in speed, efficiency, and quality.
  • Proficiency in data management tools and technologies, such as SQL, Excel, and data visualization software.
  • Ability to analyze / interpret data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform decision-making and to present data to non-technical partners while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work on site as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Computer Science Background preferred.
  • Experience in managing a team.
  • Proficiency in programming languages including Python, C++, or similar.
  • Experience with industrial software development.
  • Experience with AIML development and application.

Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $207,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
