This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security, and Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager plays a crucial role in leading a team of engineers to develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes that align with Blue Origin's mission and objectives. You will actively contribute to the team's success with responsibilities that include developing manufacturing plans, authoring work orders, designing tooling/fixtures, advancing innovative processes and procedures for spaceflight systems, and mentoring your direct reports while assisting in their career path development. This role is pivotal in ensuring efficient production of high-quality aerospace components and systems.

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. Blue Origin is dedicated to building a road to space to benefit Earth. Special Mentions:
  • Relocation provided.
  • The permanent location for this position is in Merritt Island, Florida.
  • Potential travel up to 10% of the time for training and other support activities.
  • Occasional shift rotation, off-shift support (2nd or 3rd shift), extended hours, and weekend support may be required.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers to develop and optimize manufacturing processes for aerospace products while supporting direct reports in their career development paths.
  • Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure manufacturability and scalability of products, coordinating with cross-functional teams to support product launches and transitions into manufacturing.
  • Manage projects focused on process improvement, cost reduction, and quality enhancement, while monitoring production metrics and implementing continuous improvement processes.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing plans, procedures, and policies, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Introduce new technologies and methodologies to improve manufacturing efficiency.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in manufacturing, mechanical, aerospace, or related fields.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with a focus on the aerospace industry.
  • Proven leadership in managing engineering teams and complex projects throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, material properties, quality systems, as well as experience in designing, building, and commissioning tooling and fixtures for manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams while maintaining positive and professional relationships; earns trust and contributes to a culture of inclusion and teamwork across diverse skills and large geographic distances.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt certification or comprehensive understanding of principles and tools
  • Familiarity with CAD software, MES, and ERP systems.
  • Experience in regulatory environments (AS9100).
