Job Title: Sr. Business Analyst
Duration: 2 Years (Onsite Job)
Work Location: Fort Lesley J. McNair, NDU Academic Affairs, located in Washington, D.C.
Work hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00 am 4:30 pm
Core Responsibilities
Leads and manages the development, analysis, evaluation, and improvement of data entry, data quality control, and reporting processes
Documents processes and manages distribution of work assignments to Data Analyst Level 1
Serves as team lead for data management activities and exercises independent judgment
Provides training and direction to junior team members
General Duties :
Lead development and documentation of repeatable methods for checking the quality of NDU Connect program, course, student, enrollment, and awards data. The purpose of the data quality checks (DQC) is to identify errors and/or missing data and the DQCs shall be performed weekly.
Own quarterly DQC documentation deliverable. Documentation shall include the instructions and purpose of each DQC, as well as any queries, report templates, or other applications devised by the contractor.
Report any missing or inaccurate data within one (1) day of identifying such errors.
Support academic reporting functions by reviewing NDU Connect-generated reports to ensure that they are characterized by complete, accurate, and concise presentation; that they comply with mandated formatting requirements of the Joint Staff and the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; and that they are represented as Power BI data visualizations and dashboards.
Review record-level and summary reports to support NDU requirements for two (2) annual reports to external agencies that present demographic, enrollment, and awards statistics.
Produce program- and term-based record-level and summary reports and dashboards to support the Academic Affairs team and NDU leadership.
Respond to ad hoc requests for reports, which may require NDU Connect data from a single academic term or year or may be longitudinal. There will be up to 24 ad hoc reports per calendar year.
Attend weekly team meetings, to collaborate and provide recommendations and training for improving data management processes and reporting.
Perform NDU Connect data entry and data management tasks.
Assist with NDU Connect data uploads.
Periodically validate and update the Student Prospect Creation Template to include the correct lookup values.
Periodically populate the Course Offering Template.
Populate other upload templates on an ad hoc basis.
Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards reflecting standard and ad hoc reports.
These dashboards shall contain filters or slicers for displaying data about specific colleges, programs, and student categories.
Minimum Qualifications :
A master's degree is preferred.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in computer science, information systems, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field which includes coursework in business analysis and technical writing.
Must have at least 5-7 years of experience in the field of data analysis or in a related area.
Familiar with a variety of fields' concepts, practices, and procedures. Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Proficiency in MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Strong proficiency in Power BI for dashboard creation and maintenance.
The ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Effective communication and leadership skills.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
Must be able to obtain a CAC card for base access.
Must comply with NDU facility security requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with academic data and higher education institutions, particularly graduate programs
Experience with Student Information Systems (Salesforce, Banner, Anthology)
Experience with Learning Management Systems (Blackboard, Canvas)
Experience with survey/evaluation tools (Qualtrics or similar)
Experience combining datasets from multiple disparate systems
Military Professional Education (JPME) experience a plus
Previous NDU experience a plus
Strong data quality control experience - ability to identify data anomalies and not accept data at face value .
