Onsite in Beverly Hills, CA or San Ramon, CA

6-12+ month contract with potential for extension or conversion
Overview

My lifestyle and wellness client is seeking a Data Engineer to support the growth and maintenance of our data ecosystem. This is a hands-on role where you'll design, build, and scale data infrastructure to support analytics, business intelligence, and machine learning initiatives. You'll work at the intersection of digital platforms, retail operations, and marketing channels-transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive strategic decisions across the business.
Core Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and fault-tolerant data pipelines (ETL/ELT) from diverse sources including e-commerce platforms, retail POS systems, marketing analytics tools, and third-party APIs.
  • Monitor and optimize the central data warehouse, developing efficient and intuitive data models to support analysts and data scientists.
  • Ensure data quality through validation processes and monitoring systems; troubleshoot discrepancies and pipeline failures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and build foundational models and reporting toolkits.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve data architecture and recommend new tools and technologies to enhance data capabilities.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering with a proven track record of delivering complex data projects.
  • Experience in fast-paced e-commerce or direct-to-consumer retail environments is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation and pipeline development.
  • Deep experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift).
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect, Dagster).
  • Familiarity with modern data stack technologies:
    • Ingestion: Fivetran, Stitch
    • Transformation: dbt
    • BI: Looker, Tableau
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, database design, and scalable data architecture.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a passion for solving challenging problems collaboratively.
