JOB SUMMARY

Senior Software Engineer - Automation

Location: Bethesda, MD or Remote

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with expertise in Automation and Performance Engineer with a strong focus on frontend testing to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and performance of our software solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in QA automation, performance testing, and scripting tools for local development.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts to ensure the quality and reliability of our software products across various platforms.
  • Design and execute performance tests specifically targeting frontend components, including web page load times, rendering, and responsiveness. Use tools like LightHouse CI and BlueTriangle to identify bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement automated testing strategies that align with project requirements and business objectives.
  • Conduct performance testing and analysis to identify and address bottlenecks, scalability issues, and potential areas for optimization.
  • Design and implement scripting tools and utilities to streamline local development workflows and enhance developer productivity.
  • Continuously monitor and improve test automation frameworks, tools, and processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Work closely with developers to integrate automated testing into the continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline.
  • Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and other agile development activities to ensure high-quality deliverables and adherence to best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with developers, QA, and operations staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in software development with a focus on automation testing and performance engineering.
  • Comfort with several scripting technologies - Typescript, Python, Javascript, Bash, et al.
  • Proven expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining automated test frameworks using industry-standard tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Tosca, NeoLoad, Appium, or similar.
  • Experience with Dynatrace, Splunk, BlueTriangle, and LightHouse CI is required.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Solid understanding of performance testing methodologies, tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner), and techniques for web and mobile applications.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Shell scripting for automating tasks and building development tools.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins, Travis CI), and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in an agile development environment, adapting quickly to changing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ISTQB, Certified Selenium Tester) a plus.

Colorado Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $96,038.00 to $190,154.00 annually.

Hawaii Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $116,205.00 to $209,169.00 annually.

New York Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $96,038.00 to $209,169.00 annually.

Washington Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $96,038.00 to $209,169.00 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus. Employees will accrue 0.04616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
