Job Description:
Talent Groups is seeking a Data Engineering Manager for our client in Saint Paul, MN. This role is a unique opportunity to lead a high-impact data team while still contributing hands-on to building innovative data solutions.

As the Data Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for driving the development of new architecture and code to support advanced reporting capabilities, while managing the transition from legacy systems to a modern data platform leveraging Databricks and Unity Catalog. You will oversee and mentor a team of data engineers, ensuring quality, scalability, and alignment with strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of data engineers (75% management, 25% hands-on contribution)
  • Design and implement new data architecture and pipelines to enable enhanced reporting and analytics
  • Oversee the migration from legacy systems to Databricks and Unity Catalog-based solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, ensure data quality, and deliver scalable solutions
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and best practices for data engineering workflows
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and adoption of modern data engineering practices

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing and leading data engineering teams
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Databricks and Unity Catalog
  • Background in building and optimizing scalable data pipelines and architectures
  • Experience with modern data engineering tools, cloud platforms, and programming languages (Python, SQL, etc.)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills
