Position: Alation/Atlan Data Catalog Implementation SME
Location: Bethesda, MD
Job Description:
- In this role, you'll be responsible for the implementation of Alation/Atlan Data Catalog for customer. You'll leverage your expertise in similar data catalog/governance engagements to advise customer stakeholders and guide project teams.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of Alation/Atlan data catalog engagement, aligning it with overall customer requirements.
- Configure and set up the Alation/Atlan platform and components, including user management, permissions, workflows, integrations required for each source system/ applications.
- Develop and maintain processes for metadata creation and curation.
- Collaborate with data stakeholders across various departments to identify, define, and curate data assets within Alation/ Atlan.
- Work with data teams to capture and build metadata assets and lineages within Alation/Atlan.
- Collaborate closely with data owners, data stewards, IT teams, and business users to keep the Alation/Atlan Data Catalog updated.
- Design and deliver training programs to educate users on effectively utilizing the data catalog.
- Monitor and analyze data catalog usage metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 7-10+ years of experience in data governance, or a similar field.
- Minimum of two project implementations in data catalog and governance space, and one project in Alation/Atlan.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering engagements in Data in a consulting and advisory capacity.
- In-depth understanding of data modeling, metadata management, and data governance principles.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in an agile development environment.
