Compensation

The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $93,800.00 to $156,400.00.

Position Details:

As a Infrastructure Operations Data Engineer in the Grainger Data and Analytics domain, you will oversee and optimize the operations of data platforms and analytics processes. You will build data observability and monitoring tools, managing end-to-end operational workflows, and ensuring seamless platform performance to align with business goals. You will be responsible for defining SLA agreements, driving process efficiency, and integrating best practices to enable scalable and robust data systems.

With expertise in managing large-scale data operations, you will focus on optimizing platform performance, improving data quality, and fostering collaboration between data engineering, analytics, and business teams. You have an opportunity to shape operational strategies and contribute significantly to the success of our data-driven initiatives.

You Will:
  • As Infrastructure Operations Data Engineer, you will be managing large-scale data platforms, ensuring their performance, scalability, and alignment with business goals.
  • You will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in this area while optimizing data procedures, managing cost effective pipelines and implementing standardizing data performance and quality metrics
  • Stay informed about trends and emerging technologies, evaluating the performance and applicability of potential tools to meet organizational requirements.
  • Define and enforce SLA agreements for data platform operations, ensuring timely and reliable service delivery.
  • Optimize end-to-end operational workflows by integrating best practices to enhance process efficiency.
  • Mentor junior team members

You Have:
  • Implemented robust and resilient CI/CD with automated testing in Jenkins, Github Actions, or Gitlab CI/CD (3+ years of experience)
  • Managed the optimization and necessary actions to monitor and observe databases, data lakes, and pipelines
  • 3+ years orchestrating and implementing pipelines with workflow tools like Databricks Workflows or Apache Airflow,
  • Created tooling and processes to automate cost and utilization reporting
  • Experience in batch and streaming ETL using Spark, Python, Terraform, Snowflake or Databricks. (3+ years experience)
  • Proficiency with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and experience with shell scripting in Bash, Unix or windows shell is preferable.
  • Familiarity with AWS Services not limited to Glue, Athena, Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and optimizing data management life cycle, using data quality functions like standardization, transformation, rationalization, linking and matching.
  • Proficiency in Power BI report development and administration is highly desirable
