About Engineering Platform Data
The Engineering Platform Data team is a team that builds, operates, and offers shared services that benefit multiple engineering teams within Samsung Ads. These are typically foundational services, including data cataloging, visualization, transport, processing facilities, data lineage framework, distributed data stores, and more.
What you'll do:
We are looking for an exceptional Software Engineer to join our growing team. If you are a natural leader, like working in a technically stimulating and challenging environment, and thrive on making a significant impact within an organization, then we have the perfect opportunity for you.
You will have the responsibility of being technically hands-on with the development of the Engineering Platform Data services. You will be expected to actively contribute to delivering on set objectives with your team and to ensure the services operate at a high-quality level.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that information flows efficiently between your team and the rest of the organization as necessary.
  • Monitoring all critical services, sharing on-call duties, troubleshooting, and addressing problems as they arise (including changes in code, topology, resources, or configuration).
  • Ensuring timely resolution of critical production-affecting issues, recommending and prioritizing prevention actions, and communicating these efficiently to stakeholders.
  • Participating in domains and engineering alignment meetings, including Agile/Scrum ceremonies.
  • Ensuring the team adopted, owned, and followed well-documented engineering practices.
  • Administration of services, whether built in-house or from external vendors
  • Continuous improvement of internal services for ease of packaging, configuration, and deployment


Skills and Qualifications

  • Formal degree (BS or MS) in CS, Math, technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum experience of 4 years in Managing and Supporting large-scale Production data pipeline solutions Like Kafka, Flink, Airflow
  • 5 years of experience in Scripting Language (Linux, SQL, Python). Should be proficient in shell scripting
  • Infra as code-based strategies, a.k .a. Terraform, Helm...
  • K8s experience along with administrative or operations skill sets. CKAD is a strong asset.
  • Relevant experience in Administrative activities like -
    • Plan for and support hardware and software installation and upgrades.
    • Configuration management, monitoring, and performance tuning.
    • Distributed Data pipeline implementation, configuration, operations, and maintenance (Kafka, Flink)
    • Distributed timeseries database implementation, configuration, operations, and maintenance (Druid)
    • Experience with Airflow or similar solutions
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to build solid relationships with peers.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to creatively find solutions to complex problems
  • Self-organized and the ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
  • Results-driven and the desire to deliver quality projects on time.
  • Good knowledge of SRE, Agile, and DevOps principles and how they apply to software engineering practices.
  • Flexibility, collaboration, resourcefulness, and a positive attitude are the keys to success in this role


Preferred Qualifications
  • AWS environment knowledge, implementation, and administrative skill set.
  • Experience in any programming language. (Go, Python, Scala)
  • Expertise with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipeline development
  • Expertise with back-end development (e.g., RESTful API) (an asset)


Compensation for this role, for candidates based in New York City, NY, is expected to be between $190,000 and $240,000. Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
