Role Summary
Seeking an experienced SAP FICO consultant with solid S/4HANA expertise to lead and deliver upgrade and implementation projects for clients in the mining sector. The role combines hands-on configuration, solution design, data migration, integration with other SAP modules, and close collaboration with finance, operations, and IT stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose finance and controlling solutions tailored to the demands of large, asset-intensive mining operations.
Seeking an experienced SAP FICO consultant with solid S/4HANA expertise to lead and deliver upgrade and implementation projects for clients in the mining sector. The role combines hands-on configuration, solution design, data migration, integration with other SAP modules, and close collaboration with finance, operations, and IT stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose finance and controlling solutions tailored to the demands of large, asset-intensive mining operations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead design workshops and fit-to-standard sessions to gather requirements and translate mining finance needs into S/4HANA FICO configurations.
Drive S/4HANA migrations and upgrades (greenfield implementations, brownfield conversions, and selective data transition), ensuring finance and controlling requirements are met.
Configure and optimize FI components such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Accounting, Bank Accounting, and special ledger requirements.
Configure and optimize CO components including Cost Center Accounting, Internal Orders, Profit Center Accounting, Profitability Analysis (CO-PA), Product Costing, and Settlement processes relevant to mining operations.
Implement Universal Journal (ACDOCA) migration and reconcile legacy balances to the S/4HANA finance model.
Design and implement New Asset Accounting (AA) and depreciation strategies for high-value mining assets, including capitalization, commissioning, reclassification, retirement, and rehabilitation provisions.
Lead data migration activities using tools such as the S/4HANA Migration Cockpit, LTMC, LSMW, BAPIs, and legacy extraction approaches; own migration templates, mapping and validation.
Ensure seamless integration with MM, SD, PS, EWM (if applicable), and Plant Maintenance for inventory valuation, procure-to-pay and project-related accounting.
Support configuration and adoption of SAP Fiori finance apps and provide guidance on reporting improvements (CDS views, embedded analytics) for operational and statutory reporting.
Define and execute test strategies including unit testing, integration testing, regression testing and support user acceptance testing (UAT).
Prepare cutover plans, reconciliation activities and post-go-live hypercare support for finance processes.
Provide documentation, end-user training, and change management support to finance and controlling teams.
Coordinate with technical teams (ABAP/Integration/BI) for enhancements, interfaces, and reporting requirements.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards (IFRS/local GAAP), tax, royalties and statutory reporting relevant to the mining industry.
Core Technical & Functional Skills
Deep functional knowledge of SAP FI modules: GL, AP, AR, Bank Accounting, Asset Accounting, Travel & Expense (where relevant), Special Purpose Ledger.
Strong expertise in SAP CO: Cost Center Accounting, Internal Orders, Profit Center Accounting, CO-PA, Product Costing, Material Ledger and settlement rules.
Practical experience with S/4HANA finance features: Universal Journal, New Asset Accounting, Material Ledger in perpetual inventory scenarios, and simplifications introduced by S/4HANA.
Proven experience executing ECC to S/4HANA upgrades / conversions and greenfield implementations, including cutover and reconciliation.
Hands-on experience with data migration tools and approaches for finance data (S/4 Migration Cockpit, LTMC, LSMW, BAPI/IDoc).
Familiar with SAP Activate/Agile implementation methodology and tooling (workstreams, backlog, user stories).
Familiarity with SAP Fiori apps for finance and ability to recommend suitable Fiori tiles/role design.
Awareness of integration points with MM, SD, PS, PM and third-party systems; ability to design interfaces and reconciliation processes.
Experience in testing and quality assurance for finance processes and system configurations.

Experience handling royalties, government levies, mineral taxes, export duties and statutory reporting peculiarities in mining jurisdictions.
