As a Cloud Platform Engineer at Lilly, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and enhancing technology platforms for Lilly's public cloud platforms. What You'll Do

  • Hands-on opportunity to work with cloud-native infrastructure and automation (this is not a general IT role).

  • Improve the developer experience and the software delivery process by delivering platform capabilities using cloud native technologies and DevOps principles.

  • Ensure platforms and infrastructure tools are compliant, secure, and efficient.

  • Directly responsible for the hands-on development, configuration pattern design & build, and maintenance of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation technology.

  • Partner with business areas and application System Engineers to provide technical expertise on platform capabilities to develop application solutions.

  • Independently apply technology, techniques, and tools to achieve business results.

  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in platform engineering and apply this knowledge to improve technology products and processes.

  • Demonstrate expertise in one or more technology platforms, leveraging deep knowledge to drive innovation and efficiency in projects. (Cloud e.g. Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform).

  • Effective collaboration within the team and across different teams to achieve desired outcomes.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in and attending school, pursuing a master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering/Technology, Information Technology, Security or another relevant computer and technical program with expected graduation by August 2026.

  • Completion of the 2025 Lilly technology summer internship.

  • Hands-on experience (coursework, internships, or personal projects) with at least one public cloud provider (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform). Familiarity and experience with core public cloud services (compute, networking, storage and IAM).

Desired Experience

  • Platform practices and procedures such as infrastructure qualification, patching, monitoring, log analysis, edge computing, site reliability engineering, or disaster recovery.

  • Infrastructure platforms and technologies provide the foundation for critical business applications across the enterprise.

  • Automation tools and frameworks.

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills, working across global, inclusive teams.

  • Leadership experience inside and/or outside the classroom.

  • Programming languages and tools such as Python, JS, Go, Terraform, Ansible, Git.

  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Knowledge of Agile principles and frameworks (e.g., Scrum, SAFe).

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$100,000

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
