The Scheduling Systems Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS) batch jobs and schedules across complex enterprise environments. This role ensures timely and efficient job execution aligned with business requirements, optimizing schedule resiliency and flexibility. The specialist collaborates with development teams to prioritize processing, supports special job requests, and provides 24x7 on-call support for scheduling issues. Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting errors, automating schedules to reduce manual interventions, maintaining documentation, and supporting audits and disaster recovery testing. The role also involves mentoring batch operators and advising on best practices for running book processes.

Your role in our mission

Designs, creates, and maintains IWS batch jobs and job schedules in support of multiple clients to ensure completion and timely production of work. Optimizes schedule efficiency, flexibility and resiliency in accordance with business requirements documented in run books. Updates and maintains schedules as business requirements change. Works with the development staff to establish processing priorities to meet service level agreements. Sets up special production and on-request jobs, altering daily schedule as necessary to accommodate special requests.
  • Subject matter experts for job creation and business scheduling needs.
  • Advises run book process owners on best practices and standards.
  • Manages workload complexity and dependencies.
  • Manages calendars and run cycle groups.
  • Troubleshoots non-routine errors related to batch processing. Works to improve productivity.
  • Designs and tests new batch processes to ensure productivity is not adversely affected. Escalates matters of significance as appropriate.
  • Creates, recommends and implements scheduling procedures and timely documentation of procedures; ensures implementation is in accordance with standard scheduling procedures.
  • Works to minimize operator interventions by automating schedules to reduce errors.
  • Analyzes and fixes scheduling issues.
  • Assists with account SOC Audits and Disaster Recovery Testing.
  • Provides 24x7 on-call support for job configuration and scheduling issues.
  • Performs root cause analysis and documents major incidents and work-around solutions.
  • Mentors and trains batch operators.


What we're looking for

  • IBM Workload Scheduler Expertise: 7+ years of experience managing IBM Workload Scheduler in large, complex environments, including workload designer and job scheduling functions.
  • Cross-Platform System Administration: Proven experience administering both UNIX/Linux and Windows systems, with strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, PowerShell, and VBScript.
  • Secure File Transfer & Automation: Familiarity with Progress MFT MOVEit File Transfer and Automation tools, including configuration, troubleshooting, and failure resolution in enterprise settings.
  • Security & Compliance: Knowledge of HIPAA compliance requirements and experience maintaining confidentiality and secure system configurations across platforms.
  • Infrastructure Reliability & Support: Skilled in supporting resilient infrastructure operations, including system troubleshooting, automation, and performance optimization across diverse environments.

The pay range for this position is $90,900.00 - $129,900.00 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
