Job Title: DeltaV Automation Engineer Level II or III (See Note 3 below)

Location: Bothell, WA Overnight Travel: 5%

The Manufacturing unit Operations are only for the drug substance (Up Stream) processing, compounding, bulk packaging, in sterile, clean room environment. These bulk products are then supplied to company plants elsewhere for final fill finish Packaging operations.

Note 1: The Automation system supported will be predominantly the DeltaV / DeltaV Batch by Emerson..

Note 3: This role is flexible for a wider level of experience - Level II (3-5 yrs) or higher Level III (6-8 yrs. with Annual Bonus)

Summary:

The Automation Engineer is responsible for improving workforce productivity and quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning, scheduling, and coordination of maintenance/calibration resources, parts, materials, and equipment access.

This role includes installing automation machines, ensuring proper operation, designing and programming controllers, simulating, testing, and managing automation processes, as well as training staff and managing a team to meet safety and quality standards.

50% Project Engineering and Programming of Automation DCS DeltaV Batch.

50% Plant Hands-on support as SME to Production, Process and Maintenance groups

Job Description:

  • Lead/participate in the design, integration, implementation, testing, commissioning, and evaluation of new computer-based automation systems.
  • Manage projects and resources related to automation.
  • Simulate and test automated machinery or processes.
  • Design, engineer, test, and troubleshoot control systems.
  • Interact with internal staff and shop floor personnel.
  • Maintain and enhance system documentation.
  • Maintain technical project files.
  • Develop and manage automation capital projects.
  • Manage special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Candidate Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in automation, process control, or engineering (Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical)
  • FDA/GMP - BioPharma industry experience.
  • 3+ years of automation engineering experience or higher (see Note 3 above)
  • 1+ year of Hands-on experience programming DCS - DeltaV / DeltaV Batch.
  • Experience simulating and testing manufacturing automation processes.
  • Experience developing and maintaining documentation for automation, commissioning and validation.
  • Experience training staff on new or changed processes or equipment.

Candidate Nice to Have:

  • Professional automation certification.
  • Experience with CMMS systems Blue Mountain.
  • Some Automation Experience with PI Historian, Allen Bradley PLC, SCADA, BMS, etc.
  • Experience with DeltaV batch or other ISA-88 batch systems
  • Sterile Liquid for Up Stream processing of BioPharma drug substance.
