As a Senior Product Associate in CheckMatch, you contribute to the team by leveraging your expertise in product development and optimization to make a significant impact, supported by user research and customer feedback to fuel the creation of innovative products and continuously improve existing offerings. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and play a crucial role in shaping the future of our products and ongoing success.

CheckMatch is a new business within Onyx that leverages blockchain technology to make check payments more efficient. The CheckMatch Product Development team is responsible for the delivery of core product enhancements and tactical solutions to meet the extensive needs of CheckMatch clients. The team maintains subject matter expertise in payments and technical product development, providing thought leadership in the Onyx space. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain experience across all aspects of building a fintech business from the ground up, and who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, start-up like environment. Onyx by J.P. Morgan was launched in October 2020 to reimagine how businesses are built, grow, and interact by developing innovative applications that leverage cutting edge technology.

Job responsibilities

  • Partners with the Product Manager to identify new product opportunities that reflect the needs of our customers and the market through user research and discovery
  • Considers and plans for upstream and downstream implications of new product features on the overall product experience
  • Supports the collection of user research, journey mapping, and market analysis to inform the strategic product roadmap and provide insight on potential product features that provide value to customers
  • Analyzes, tracks, and evaluates product metrics including work to time, cost, and quality targets across the product development life cycle
  • Writes the requirements, epics, and user stories to support product development
  • Leads the product management lifecycle from ideation to launch and scaling the product to maturity
  • Owns, maintains, and develops a product backlog that enables development to support the overall strategic roadmap and value proposition
  • Understand, manage, and communicate prioritization of features and clearly demonstrate user and business benefits, tradeoffs, and risks.
  • Provide solutions for any gaps identified with operations and engineering partners
  • Identify and define longer range initiatives that improves upon capabilities, experiences, and business outcomes for our clients and leadership


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 3+ years of experience or equivalent expertise in product management or a relevant domain area
  • Proficient knowledge of the product development life cycle
  • Experience in product life cycle activities including discovery and requirements definition
  • Developing knowledge of data analytics and data literacy
  • Effective at time management and task prioritization
  • Results-oriented with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to pivot between technical proficiency and professional acumen as needed depending on audience
  • Excellent communications skills, ability to collaborate effectively with clients, partners and senior stakeholders


Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • 3+ years of experience in the payments industry
  • Experience with API based designs
  • Ability to solve complex, unstructured problems with the client in mind
