Senior Linux and Network Engineer
Location: Oakland, CA

Description:
In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this position is responsible for system build, testing,
validation, and ongoing support of various infrastructure technologies hosting multiple internally
developed applications. This position will require knowledge of clinical terminologies and IT systems
knowledge and experience. This position will perform in depth and precise troubleshooting and
documentation of complex server, storage, networking infrastructure hosting multi-tiered applications.
This includes handling incidents and service requests from application development teams and non-
IT users. The role also requires on-call rotation when necessary.
Essential Responsibilities:
Completes work assignments by applying up-to-date knowledge in subject area to meet
deadlines; following procedures and policies, and applying data and resources to support projects
or initiatives; collaborating with others, often cross-functionally, to solve business problems;
supporting the completion of priorities, deadlines, and expectations; communicating progress and
information; identifying and recommending ways to address improvement opportunities when
possible; and escalating issues or risks as appropriate.

Meets timelines to drive the delivery of appropriate, sustainable, and prompt solutions.
Provides first and second level support for enterprise systems and systems in one or more
additional IT domains by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex incidents to minimize
network issues.
Supports stability, availability, and performance of enterprise systems (e.g., systems, applications,
network, databases, storage, security) by monitoring systems to identify problems, trends, and
opportunities for improvement.
Plans and performs complex network configuration.
Supports communications with product users and suppliers to share information, identify
opportunities, resolve problems, prioritize customer requirements, and maintain continuous
improvement through customer feedback.
Defines and tests maintenance and refresh activities.
Participates in the installation, upgrade, or decommissioning of designated systems, products, and
infrastructure.
Installing and configuring network equipment.
Establishes and maintains network performance.
Troubleshoots network problems.
Maintaining computer networks including switches, firewalls, and other physical hardware.
Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including patches, hot fixes and security
configurations. Recommends and executes performance tuning and optimization activities.
Creates documentation of new and existing network configuration and procedural information, and
reviews documentation of others.
Knowledgeable with the installation of Data Center components (e.g., PDUs, Cabinets/Rack,
Cabling [Cross Connect, Interconnect, ladder rack, fiber and ethernet cables]
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum five (5) years of experience working in Palo Alto or equivalent firewall technology.
Minimum five (5) years of experience working in Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switches.
Minimum three (3) years of experience with FC SAN which includes switching.
Minimum three (3) years of experience in F5 LTM/Big IP DNS installation and management.
Minimum five (5) years of experience supporting Redhat Linux Operating Systems.
Extensive knowledge on network infrastructure and network hardware.
Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including
firewall, switches, network load balancers.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Social Science, Education, Business,
Health Care or related field and Minimum five (5) years working in IT or operations. Additional
equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Preferred Qualifications:
Three (3) years of experience writing documentation or standard operating procedures related to
network administration.
Two (2) year experience troubleshooting networks using packet captures.
Two (2) year working on Docker Containers and or Kubernetes orchestration.
One (1) year working in ServiceNow for managing incidents and service requests.
Experience with log management tools such as Splunk is helpful.
Experience with Content Delivery Network and/or Web Application Firewall is helpful.
Advanced knowledge of Network Monitoring tools.
