Job Summary

As a Software Development Engineer in NetApp's Cloud Platforms organization, you will work as part of a team responsible for actively participating in driving our Cloud solutions development and strategy. You will participate in activities that include designing, developing, testing and debugging of complex operating systems that run NetApp storage management applications in the Cloud. As part of the Research and Development function, the overall focus of the group is on competitive market and customer requirements, technology advances, product quality, product cost and time-to-market. Software engineers in this organization focus on enhancements to existing solutions, as well as new product development for all major Cloud providers.

Essential Functions:
Develop a strong technical understanding of NetApp's existing data management and storage solutions in the Cloud, their interdependencies, and limitations
Participate in all phases of the product development cycle including product architecture and definition, design and development, test design and automation, debugging and support, and supporting resolution of critical/high visibility customer issues
Participate in technical discussions within the immediate group and across functions to evaluate and execute design and development plans for product features
Decompose complex problems into simple solutions via in-depth evaluation and interaction with cross functional teams
Handle unstructured tasks and conducting research to convert vague/undefined requirements into clearly articulated ones
Operate under limited supervision and direction, as this individual can operate, drive results and set priorities independently
Act as a technical advisor to engineers within the team and across functions

Job Requirements
Strong oral and written communication skills are required
Ability to work collaboratively with other engineers and have strong influencing and leadership skills
A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in software/systems engineering is required, with programming skills in C, C++ or equivalent and additionally, Python
4+ years of experience in data management systems & storage platforms for managing and storing data across various workloads and environments. (Ex: NetApp's ONTAP or similar systems)
Hands-on, operational knowledge in any of the major Clouds, preferably AWS
Ability to own and drive complex projects or new product development to resolution, either independently or in collaboration with peers across different teams
Ability to convert vague and undefined requirements into clearly articulated ones
Works with limited supervision and can operate, drive results and set priorities independently
Demonstrated experience as a technical mentor to junior engineers in a team
Must work effectively with staff to senior leadership within the function, across functions and with external parties

Education
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, a Master's Degree, or a PhD; or equivalent experience is required
A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in software/systems engineering is required
Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, complex technical projects

Compensation:
The target salary range for this position is 152,150 - 226,490 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package.
