Job Role: Network Engineer
Location: Philadelphia, PA (Onsite Monday to Friday between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM EST)

Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support, maintain, and enhance the Train Control computer systems and network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring secure and continuous operations of real-time SCADA control systems and supporting technologies. This role involves administering hardware/software upgrades, monitoring system security, and creating detailed operational and troubleshooting procedures in a 24/7 environment.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
7+ years of experience with real-time SCADA control systems and their operations.
7+ years of experience with networking, workstations, and server OS (RedHat, Windows).
Strong hands-on experience with configuration and maintenance of network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls).
Proven experience managing projects across the full software/hardware lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, and documentation.
Extensive knowledge of system and network security best practices.
Strong communication skills to present technical documentation and operational procedures.
Ability to work effectively with non-technical stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
General understanding of railroad operations, signaling, and electrification concepts.

Preferred Skills:
Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
10+ years of experience in real-time SCADA systems, networking, and multi-platform system administration.

Work Environment:
Must be available for occasional overnight and weekend work to support system/network upgrades.
Scheduled on-call duty may be required during peak or critical periods.
Must be able to respond quickly to emergency situations requiring immediate fault diagnosis and resolution.
Up to 25% travel required.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead technical analysis, design, development, and implementation of enhancements and maintenance for Train Control Systems.
Ensure 24/7 availability and fault tolerance of four Train Control System facilities and related network infrastructure.
Administer and maintain RedHat Linux and Windows-based systems.
Plan and implement secure and reliable operating system, hardware, and software upgrades.
Configure and support routers, switches, and firewalls across the network infrastructure.
Develop and monitor network security policies and practices.
Create operating and troubleshooting procedures for technical teams.
Assist with emergency network/system support on a 24/7 basis as needed.
Document network architecture, administrative procedures, and system configurations.
Interface with internal staff and external technical specialists for system evaluations and upgrades.
