Position Overview
ECCO Select is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support multiple concurrent Sunrise upgrade and build initiatives. This is a project-based role requiring strong technical execution, critical thinking, and customer-facing communication skills. The engineer will work primarily remotely, with occasional travel required during key production upgrade milestones.
This role supports both customer environments and internal teams, reporting directly to the Systems Engineering Manager, and will operate with a high degree of autonomy within defined runbooks.
Key Responsibilities
Sunrise Upgrades & Project Execution
- Execute and support multiple concurrent Sunrise application upgrades and new builds across customer environments.
- Perform production system upgrades, including preparation, execution, validation, and post-upgrade support.
- Adapt standardized upgrade procedures to accommodate customer-specific customizations.
- Collaborate closely with Project Management to align technical activities with project schedules.
Server & Application Engineering
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Microsoft Windows Server 2022 environments.
- Deploy and configure new servers and applications, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
- Monitor system health, performance, and security across supported environments.
SQL Server Administration
- Support SQL Server 2022, including environments utilizing AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
- Participate in troubleshooting database-related issues during upgrades and production support.
- Ensure availability and stability of SQL systems supporting customer applications.
Troubleshooting & Operational Support
- Serve as an escalation resource for complex technical issues during upgrade and post-upgrade phases.
- Participate in after-hours work and on-call support as required by project schedules.
- Leverage existing runbooks while applying critical thinking to diagnose and resolve non-standard issues.
Communication & Collaboration
- Act as a customer-facing technical resource, working directly with clients during upgrade activities.
- Collaborate with internal teams including Project Management, Development, and Operations.
- Provide clear status updates and technical guidance throughout project lifecycles.
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience as a Systems Engineer supporting Windows-based enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2022
- SQL Server 2022 (AlwaysOn preferred)
- Server and application upgrades in production environments
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure and application issues.
- Experience working on project-based upgrade initiatives with variable workloads.
- Comfortable working during after-hours, on-call, and weekend windows as project needs dictate.
- Strong communication skills and experience working directly with customers.
