Job Description:

This position is for a Unified Communications Engineer at Arizona State University. As a UC engineer you will be responsible for the configuration, administration and maintenance of ZOOM phone, Ribbon session border controllers, Avaya Aura telephony system and Avaya Session Manager servers in a high paced and goal driven environment. The UC engineer demonstrates the ability to drive results and must be organized with the ability to present complex collaboration results to leadership.

Salary Range:

$66,207.00- $85,000.00 per year; DOE

Essential Duties:
  • Expert level knowledge and understanding of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunks
  • Maintenance support and troubleshoots and resolves issues related to Ribbon session border controllers
  • Understanding of complex telephony call routing between multiple unified communication systems (ZOOM phone and Avaya Aura)
  • Maintains, supports and administers Avaya Aura, Session manager and voice gateways and components across a diverse higher education environment
  • Works effectively with multiple service providers in the delivery, maintenance and problem resolution of data and telephony circuits
  • Working knowledge of various circuit provider portals for circuit disconnect request and circuit inventory management
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills in communicating effectively with multiple department leaders of varying telephony understanding and expertise.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert in providing planning and guidance for telecommunications systems and designs
  • Gathers essential information for the development and creation of call center agents and queues
  • Leverage AI in routine tasks and contribute ideas for using AI to improve the unit's efficiency and overall performance.
  • Take responsibility for fostering a positive culture, upholding organizational values, and championing engagement in all its forms.
  • Collaborate across teams and actively participate in ET/ASU events and programs.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience maintaining, implementing and administering Ribbon Session Border controllers.
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience administering, configuring and implementing Avaya Aura applications and tools and Avaya G450 voice gateways.
  • Expert level knowledge of voice and data circuit technology terminations with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in working with circuit providers.
  • (2) years of experience on ZOOM phone and knowledge of including call queues, shared lines and multiple site emergency locations
  • Experience with maintaining and configuring Oracle Acme packet session border controllers
  • Knowledge of Intrado Emergency Gateway's for updates to emergency responder location(s)
  • Experience with various ATA's including audio-codes and Cisco
  • Ability to administer and maintain Avaya Aura hardware and software including communication manager, session manager, system manager and Avaya SAL server
  • Working knowledge of the following applications: Visio, ServiceNow, Microsoft suite including but not limited to Outlook, Word and Excel

Working Environment:
  • Activities primarily take place in a standard, climate-controlled office environment and may involve extended periods of sitting, standing, or moving between office spaces.
  • This role involves regular use of a computer (desktop and/or laptop), including a keyboard and mouse.
  • Effective communication and proficiency with a variety of technologies are essential for collaboration with the broader team.
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Regular responsibilities may require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
