Role Overview
SunStripe seeks a consultative, highly technical sales leader to drive large-scale solution sales across solar + BESS projects in the U.S. The Technical Sales Manager will be a trusted advisor to developers, EPCs, and C&I clients translating complex engineering insights into actionable commercial deals. Your charter: originate and close $50M+ in qualified sales over two years, while leading technical development, project origination, and integrated solution delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue & Market Development
- Own a $50M sales quota over 24 months in solar PV, BESS, or integrated solutions.
- Identify and originate projects in U.S. utility-scale and large C&I segments.
- Drive RFP responses, feasibility studies, and client-specific solutions through end-to-end cycles.
Technical Consulting & Solution Design
- Lead technical pre-sales meetings, site feasibility reviews, grid strategy sessions, and ROI modeling.
- Guide and co-develop project layouts, SLDs, energy yields (PVsyst), and dispatch strategies (BESS).
- Act as the internal voice of the customer across engineering, procurement, and finance teams.
Development & Origination Support
- Support land due diligence, permitting, and interconnection strategies in early-stage projects.
- Align internal teams and stakeholders to accelerate pre-development and development milestones.
- Act as a bridge between owners, EPCs, and internal engineers to ensure project readiness.
Owner's Engineering & Supply Chain Advisory
- Provide consultative input on technology choices, equipment procurement, and EPC scopes.
- Advise clients on selection of modules, inverters, trackers, and BESS configurations.
- Support BoM finalization, vendor comparisons, and risk mitigation in design packages.
Financial Modeling & Cost Optimization
- Collaborate with finance team on LCOE/IRR models and capital stack considerations.
- Optimize system configurations to reduce capex and opex, and maximize returns.
- Support client-side investment committees and bid responses with technical-financial alignment.
Relationship Management
- Cultivate and grow relationships with developers, utilities, EPCs, IPPs, and strategic channel partners.
- Represent SunStripe at conferences, forums, and in executive-level meetings.
Cross-functional Leadership
- Interface daily with the India-based engineering and AI-technology teams for client-specific customization.
- Provide market intelligence to influence product design, delivery ops, and pricing.
Qualifications
Must-Haves:
- 6 10 years of experience in U.S. solar/BESS markets in technical sales, development, or consulting roles.
- Demonstrated success closing >$20 30M in B2B or utility-scale solar/BESS projects.
- Technical fluency in solar PV design, BESS dispatch, interconnection, and grid economics.
- Experience with PVsyst, AutoCAD, CRM tools (e.g. Salesforce, HubSpot); understanding of ISO/RTO processes.
- Excellent analytical, modeling, and stakeholder engagement skills.
