Title: Senior Data Analyst Salesforce
OPT is Fine
Location: Denver, CO - onsite
Role Summary:
The Sr. Data Analyst will play a critical role in a Salesforce org consolidation project, migrating data from the Source Salesforce Org to the Target Salesforce Org while preserving custom processes and relationships. This role is responsible for ensuring data integrity and accuracy throughout the migration process. The analyst will profile and map data, perform manual transformations in Excel, and prepare migration-ready datasets. The role ensures minimal data loss, compliance with business rules, and seamless post-migration functionality.
Responsibilities:
Data Domain Analysis: Work across all Salesforce CRM data domains (Accounts, Contacts, Opportunities, Cases, Leads, and Custom Objects) to understand current data structures in both orgs, including parent-child relationships and reference fields. Conduct thorough data profiling to identify data quality issues (e.g., duplicates, inconsistencies, outdated records) and contribute to data cleansing strategies prior to migration.
Data Mapping & Transformation: Develop detailed field-to-field data mapping for migrating records from the Digital Org to the Global Component Org. Document and maintain a detailed mapping dictionary across multiple business units to define how each source field translates to the target org s fields. Handle ID remapping for lookups and master-detail relationships; ensure transformations account for Salesforce-specific constraints (e.g., record types, validation rules). Perform manual data transformations and cleanup in Excel (using formulas, pivot tables, etc.) to align data with the target structure/schema.
Collaboration with Development Team: Work closely with Salesforce developers and technical teams responsible for data extraction and loading. Collaborate on ETL processes using tools like Salesforce Data Loader or third-party integrators. Provide clear requirements and mapping logic to developers, verify that extracted data meets expected criteria, and assist in troubleshooting data issues.
CSV Preparation: Prepare final migration-ready CSV files for each Salesforce object and each business unit, based on the field mapping and transformation rules. This includes cleansed data, verifying field mappings, and ensuring the CSVs meet the format for import. Sequence CSVs for phased migration (e.g., load parent records before children) to maintain data integrity. Ensure that all necessary data (including lookup/reference IDs) is correctly prepared for a smooth upload process.
Post-Migration Validation: After data is loaded into the target org, perform data validation. Compare source and target datasets to ensure all records have migrated successfully and no discrepancies or missing records exist. Use SOQL queries or reports to reconcile data; validate against business rules (e.g., compliance with GDPR for personal data). Identify and document any data variances, and work with the team to resolve issues.
Documentation & Reporting: Create and update documentation for all data migration activities, including data mapping documents, transformation rules, reconciliation reports, migration runbooks, and error logs for auditability.
Risk Assessment: Identify potential migration risks (e.g., data volume limits, API quotas) and recommend mitigation strategies.
Requirements:
Experience: 5+ years of experience in data analysis, data quality, or data management roles, with hands-on experience in Salesforce org migrations or consolidations (e.g., merging sandboxes or production orgs) and a significant focus on Salesforce or CRM data.
Salesforce Data Knowledge: Good understanding of the Salesforce data model and CRM concepts including standard objects (Accounts, Contacts, Opportunities, Cases, Leads) and custom objects. Familiarity with Salesforce APIs (e.g., Bulk API), SOQL, and data loading tools like Data Loader or Jitterbit. Ability to quickly learn and understand the data schemas of both source and target Salesforce orgs.
Excel Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data profiling and transformation (e.g., using VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, text functions, conditional formulas).
Data Profiling & Cleansing: Hands-on experience analyzing data quality and identifying anomalies. Able to profile datasets to find duplicate entries, inconsistent values, and missing information, and devise strategies to standardize and clean the data prior to migration. Experience with Salesforce duplicate rules and matching logic.
Data Mapping & Documentation: Demonstrated ability to perform field-by-field data mapping between systems. Experience creating clear mapping documents or data dictionaries that outline how source fields correspond to target fields, including transformation rules or lookup tables.
Technical Tools: Experienced using various tools for data analysis. Proficiency with data-handling tools (e.g., SQL for queries, Python/Pandas for scripting, or ETL software like Talend); experience with Salesforce Data Loader required.
Soft Skills: Strong communication for collaborating with business stakeholders (e.g., validating custom processes) and problem-solving under deadlines.
Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) in CRM migrations.
