Data Encryption Architect (AWS)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Phoenix, AZ that is seeking a highly experienced Data Encryption Architect with deep expertise in Amazon Web Services (AWS) to lead the design and implementation of encryption strategies that protect sensitive data across the cloud infrastructure. This role is critical in ensuring data confidentiality, integrity, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
* Design and implement robust data encryption architectures across AWS services, including encryption at rest, in transit, and during processing
* Develop and manage key management strategies using AWS Key Management Service (KMS), CloudHSM, and third-party HSMs
* Define and enforce encryption policies and standards aligned with industry best practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, PCI-DSS, GDPR, FedRAMP)
* Collaborate with security, DevOps, and data engineering teams to integrate encryption into cloud-native applications and data pipelines
* Conduct risk assessments and audits of encryption implementations and recommend improvements
* Evaluate and implement encryption tools and technologies, including tokenization, masking, and secure multi-party computation
* Provide technical leadership and guidance on cryptographic protocols, algorithms, and secure key lifecycle management

REQUIREMENTS:
* 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity or data protection, with at least 3 years focused on encryption in AWS environments
* Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
* Deep understanding of AWS encryption services, including KMS, CloudHSM, S3 encryption, RDS/TDE, EBS encryption, and TLS configurations
* Strong knowledge of cryptographic standards and protocols (e.g., AES, RSA, ECC, TLS, PKI)
* Familiarity with compliance and regulatory requirements related to data protection
* AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Security - Specialty or Advanced Networking - Specialty are a plus

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
