We are seeking a Senior Technical Consultant with strong experience in Java or other Object-Oriented (OO) programming to support a major transit systems modernization effort for a leading public transportation authority in Atlanta.

The selected candidate will play a critical role in ensuring continuity, knowledge transfer, and system understanding for a complex Train Controls & SCADA System that has evolved over the past decade. This role bridges technology and operations helping the client understand, manage, and optimize a highly integrated system used across trains, wayside infrastructure, and central command centers.

  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert (SME) on system functionality and integrations across train control, SCADA, and communications systems.

  • Collaborate with client and vendor teams to guide system understanding, troubleshooting, and future enhancements.

  • Rapidly learn complex domain-specific systems and apply your technical expertise to interpret, document, and communicate system logic and design.

  • Provide insights to support ongoing maintenance, vendor oversight, and modernization planning.

  • Translate between technical and business perspectives to support leadership decisions.

  • 6 8 years of hands-on software development or systems analysis experience.

  • Strong proficiency in Java and familiarity with other object-oriented languages (e.g., C++, C#, Python).

  • Proven ability to analyze, understand, and reverse-engineer existing software systems.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills ability to learn new domains and explain technical concepts clearly.

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Experience in industrial control, SCADA, or transportation systems.

  • Exposure to large-scale modernization or system integration projects.
