Job Description Summary
This position is for an individual contributor 'hardware owning' engineer reporting to an Engineering Manager within the Integrated Manufacturing Engineering Organization Combustors & Engine Structures US-Based Team. As a hardware owner you will own all engineering functions related to the production of assigned components in Combustor and Structure commodities for GE Shops. The specific area of focus will be LEAP A/C TCF; however, involvement with other structural components for other engine lines may be needed.

In this role, you will be on the front lines of an organization that is dedicated to improving the producibility, enhancing the Engineering-Supply chain relationship, and using SQDC to dramatically improve the health of the supply chain and product to enable the business to fulfil our customers' expectations.

Examples of specific tasks you will be responsible for are: producibility design changes, on-going manufacturing support, cost outs and strategic improvements on production related processes for combustor and structural components.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects, with guidance from senior engineering resources, using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers from multiple disciplines, manufacturing, and quality, and regularly communicate with commodity and industry experts while promoting open and honest dialogue
  • Execute the engineering analysis and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles to improve manufacturability and technical robustness of assigned components
  • Use engineering judgement and experience to challenge entrenched processes and recommend improvements
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of engineering & manufacturing, analytical thinking, and technical experience to execute on complex projects to meet technical requirements and business goals under mentorship of senior engineers
  • Lead technical projects with low to moderate complexity through collaboration with field and industry experts
  • Provide support to repair development, producibility improvements, hardware delivery and vendor qualifications
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a relevant engineering role.
  • Must hold legal work authorization for USA

Desired Characteristics
  • Previous experience in design of combustor and structural components
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, especially of combustor and structural components
  • Flexible and friendly approach to working in teams
  • Experience with ANSYS and NX
  • Certification in ASME Y14.5 or practical experience with GD&T
  • Passion for problem solving and driving solutions while constantly learning and mentoring others
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
  • Established project management skills
