Title: Senior DevSecOps Architect
Location : 100% Remote
Target Start Date : 12/08/2025
Pay Rate : $90-110/hour

We are seeking a seasoned Senior DevSecOps Architect to lead the secure design, automation, and operation of our highly available, cloud-native platforms. This strategic role is responsible for embedding security into every phase of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) while ensuring maximum reliability and performance of systems hosted on Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).

The successful candidate will champion a Zero Trust philosophy, leveraging deep technical expertise in both Google Cloud Platform services and CI/CD automation to build resilient, compliant, and continuously monitored environments with an emphasis on Disaster Recovery (DR) and Cyber Resilience.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Architecture & High-Availability (HA)
  • Architect and implement multi-region/multi-zone highly available, fault-tolerant, and geo-redundant infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform. This includes configuring Cloud Load Balancing with failover mechanisms and utilizing managed services like Cloud Spanner for global consistency or Cloud SQL/PostgreSQL for robust replication.
  • Design and deploy enterprise-level Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies and automation, ensuring low Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO).
  • Serve as the Google Cloud Platform Subject Matter Expert (SME), guiding engineering teams on best practices for services including Cloud IAM, VPC Service Controls, and network peering for secure and resilient connectivity.
  • Lead Infrastructure as Code (IaC) initiatives using Terraform to manage all HA/DR configurations, ensuring state consistency and automated failover testing.
  • Design and manage secure, self-healing container orchestration systems, primarily using Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), including cluster autoscaling, node pool management, and network policy enforcement.

Cybersecurity Automation & DevSecOps
  • Define and drive the DevSecOps architectural roadmap, integrating advanced security tools and policies throughout the CI/CD pipeline (e.g., GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
  • Implement and manage automated security tools for Application Security Testing (SAST, DAST, IAST) and Software Composition Analysis (SCA) to continuously vet code, dependencies, and deployment artifacts.
  • Establish advanced posture management leveraging Google Cloud Platform Security Command Center, custom security policies, and vulnerability management across container images and cloud resources.
  • Design and implement a Zero Trust security model through granular access controls, micro-segmentation, and rigorous least-privilege principles, particularly using Workload Identity in GKE.
  • Lead threat modeling and risk assessment for critical applications and platform services, and design compensating controls (e.g., WAF rules via Cloud Armor).

Monitoring, Compliance, and Operations
  • Implement comprehensive security logging, monitoring, and alerting systems leveraging Google Cloud Platform Cloud Logging/Monitoring, Chronicle, and integration with external SIEM/SOAR platforms.
  • Ensure all cloud deployments meet industry and regulatory compliance standards (e.g., SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS requirements, if applicable) by embedding automated compliance checks into the IaC pipeline.
  • Develop and practice robust Security Incident Response procedures, focusing on automated remediation and containment within the cloud environment.

Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in DevOps/Security Engineering, with at least 3+ years in a DevSecOps/Cloud Architect role.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), including core services for compute (GKE, Compute Engine), advanced networking (VPC Service Controls, Cloud Armor), and security (Cloud IAM, KMS, Security Command Center).
  • Extensive experience designing and operating multi-zone and multi-region high-availability and disaster recovery architectures.
  • Proven proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to manage complex cloud configurations.
  • Expertise in CI/CD pipelines and integrating security tooling for automated validation and vulnerability management.
  • Strong knowledge of containerization and orchestration security, particularly Docker and Kubernetes/GKE hardening.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant Professional Certification (e.g., Google Cloud Platform Professional Cloud Security Engineer, Google Cloud Platform Professional Cloud Architect, CKS, or CISSP).
  • Hands-on experience with advanced Google Cloud Platform data services (e.g., BigQuery, Cloud Spanner) and their respective HA/DR strategies.
  • Familiarity with network segmentation strategies and microservices security patterns.

This is a critical, leadership role with the opportunity to define the security, reliability, and operational foundation for a company's next generation of digital products.
