More About the Role:
Leidos is seeking a Transport Engineering Manager to support related efforts for SMIT, the largest IT services program for the Navy. Under the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT), Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. Ultimately, the Leidos team will support the Navy in unifying its shore-based networks and data management to improve capability and service while also saving significant dollars by focusing efforts under one enterprise network.
What You'll Get to Do:
The Transport Engineering Manager will manage a team of network engineers. The team is responsible for designing, development, innovations and configure unique networks. This position will require the skillset and experience using free thinking and independent judgement to provide solutions.
Other duties include:
Review task order requests from the Government and develop questions/feedback to refine the Statement of Objectives.
Provide inputs to the Basis of Estimates for task order support.
Establish standard procedures and processes to be followed by the entire team to ensure complete, accurate, reliable, and certifiably auditable data is collected.
Lead your team in creating and maintaining software, hardware, and documentation configuration baselines (development, test, production, etc.).
Engineer solutions that provide secure, effective, and efficient operation of systems, architecture, and topology for tools and data.
Analyze, evaluate, and plan methods of approach to provide solutions.
Organize the means to achieve solutions to highly complex technical problems.
Significant collaboration and coordination with external customers, management, subcontractors, vendors, and other engineering disciplines.
Comply with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) governance and use MBSE tools.
Comply with Cybersecurity requirements within the DoDI 8500.01 and DON 5239.
Mentor and review the work of team members.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
Requires B.S. Degree and 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or master's with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience.
Positive can-do attitude with success leading diverse teams under tight timelines
Hands-on experience in working with DoD networks.
Ability to multi-task, self-assign work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Motivated self-starter with ability to lead and work in a matrix organization and communicate effectively with peers, subordinates, and program leadership.
Strong analytical, communication and troubleshooting skills that enable proactive and effective collaboration with a virtual team, including the ability to clearly articulate status and present to both customers and program leadership.
Experience working in large information technology enterprise environments.
Travel may be required.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Experience working on DoD programs, specifically Navy programs
Experience with network, security, infrastructure architecture activities and tasks on a large government IT Infrastructure project with 24x7 mission support requirements; Network Design and Development; Data Center Services; Site to Site / Remote Access Virtual Private Network (VPN) Services; Trusted Internet Connection (TIC) Services; Network Backbone Services; Local Area Network (LAN); Wide Area Network (WAN) Services; Voice over IP (VoIP); Wireless Networks; Cloud Network Services; Firewall; Web Filtering; Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS); Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS); Network Access Control (NAC);Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Certificate Management; Traffic/Infrastructure Monitoring; System Accreditation and Authorization
Experience developing SE artifacts in multiple systems development paradigms and methodologies
Certifications:
