Position: Software Engineer

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Project Duration: 12 months w/ possibility of extension or conversion

Rate: Negotiable Based on Experience

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Systems Engineers to design software solutions that meet operational and end-user needs.
• Develop, integrate, and test embedded software for both new and legacy military and commercial aerospace programs.
• Provide innovative solutions to complex system and software integration challenges.
• Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, verification, and maintenance.
• Work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team in an Agile development environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Proficiency in software development using C, C++, C#, Java or similar languages.
• Experience developing software in a Windows environment.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Shell, Perl, or Python.
• Strong understanding of software systems design, integration, and management.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in software development, integration, and testing.
• Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).

Desired Skills

• Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) such as Linux, Green Hills Integrity, or VxWorks.
• Knowledge of Ada programming.
• Experience in Unix/Linux environments.
• Familiarity with embedded avionics and display systems.
• Understanding of software optimization and timing analysis for real-time systems.
• Experience developing and integrating software drivers for hardware interfaces.
• Knowledge of data protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, RS-422, USB, PCI, and MIL-STD-1553.
• Proficiency with software debugging tools.
• Experience in requirements development for software products.
• Understanding of computer architecture and hardware optimization.
• Familiarity with Software Configuration Management principles and tools (e.g., Git).
• Experience in Agile development environments using tools like Azure DevOps.
• Knowledge of parallel programming for technical computing.
• Familiarity with DO-178C DAL C software development standards.

Success Metrics

• Timely and efficient completion of assigned tasks (stories) during each Agile sprint cycle (typically 2-3 weeks).
• Quality and reliability of software deliverables.
• Effective collaboration and communication within the team.
