Description:
Senior Engineer serves as a strategic technical leader responsible for architecting, developing, and governing critical systems that power that our client's enterprise modernization and digital transformation. This role combines deep technical mastery across multiple platforms with the ability to design secure, scalable, and high-performing architectures that align with business and regulatory objectives.

The Senior Engineer provides technical vision and leadership, mentoring engineering teams, influencing cross-functional collaboration, and ensuring consistent adherence to architectural standards and DevSecOps best practices. The position also drives innovation through the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies, including cloud-native services, intelligent automation, and AI-enabled solutions, to accelerate enterprise agility and value delivery.

This position operates at both strategic and execution levels, partnering closely with security and infrastructure teams to design and implement enterprise systems from the ground up. The role translates business strategy into actionable system architectures, leads large-scale modernization initiatives, and enforces governance frameworks that ensure technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and long-term resilience across the technology ecosystem.

Schedule: Hybrid 3 days onsite

Duration: 6 months contract to hire

This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Rate: $55 - $65 / hr. w2

Responsibilities:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Development Leadership - 30%

Establish and drive the adoption of DevSecOps practices by defining and implementing the overall strategy and architecture. This includes identifying the right tools, technologies, and processes for the organization.

Design, build, and maintain scalable and secure end-to-end application stacks spanning front-end, back-end, data layers, and cloud services.

Lead application modernization efforts using microservices, event-driven architecture, and API-first design principles.

Implement secure coding practices, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and secure API design.

Conduct regular code reviews, enforces quality standards, and drives continuous improvement across the development life cycle.

Partner with security and product teams to align solutions with enterprise integration strategy.

Ensure adherence to compliance standards (NCUA, FFIEC, SOC 2) and internal audit requirements.

Document architecture, design patterns, and operational runbooks to enable repeatable, supportable solutions.

DevSecOps - 30%

Design, build, and maintain the automated pipelines (CI/CD) to seamlessly incorporate security checks at every stage. This involves integrating tools for continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous security.

Create and enforce security best practices, coding standards, and policies as code to ensure consistency and compliance across all projects.

Act as the primary liaison between IT Security and the development team, managing vulnerability management activities including static and dynamic code analysis, threat modeling, and security testing to ensure secure application design and implementation

Implement automated monitoring and logging solutions to ensure system integrity and real-time threat detection, working in collaboration with the Security Team to incorporate these solutions into the broader security toolset and operational framework.

Partner with security team to ensure proactive mitigation of risks before production deployment.

Drive adoption of DevSecOps practices across teams, promoting a security-first culture.

Agentic AI Development - 30% (prefer experience but candidates interested or have training will be considered)

Design and deploy intelligent AI agents capable of decision-making, reasoning, and tool invocation for business process automation.

Leverage modern AI frameworks (e.g., Azure OpenAI, Boomi Agent Garden, Semantic Kernel) to enable autonomous workflows.

Embed governance, ethical guardrails, and explainability into AI-driven processes to meet regulatory and audit requirements.

Integrate AI agents with enterprise systems and APIs to support fraud detection, operational workflows, and process acceleration.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to continuously evolve AI agent capabilities.

Ensure AI implementations meet TruStone's security and privacy standards.

Collaboration & Agile Delivery - 10%

Participate in Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Backlog Grooming, and Retrospectives to drive delivery excellence.

Work closely with Product Owners, security, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into secure, executable solutions.

Champion continuous integration, automated testing, and secure delivery practices.

Contribute to a culture of accountability, transparency, and innovation.

Maintain strong working relationships across departments to maximize solution adoption.

SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITIES

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but will serve as a technical leader and mentor to other software developers and engineers.

Basic Qualifications and Experience

5-7 years of full-stack software development experience with modern front-end and back-end frameworks.

Proven DevSecOps experience, including secure CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud platform implementation.

Proficiency in one or more programming languages.

Demonstrated experience in implementing application security best practices (encryption, secure APIs).

Hands-on experience or strong interest in learning with AI agent concepts, frameworks, and deployment models such as Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure Foundry AI (preferred technologies), Boomi Agent Garden, or Semantic Kernel.

Hands-on experience with DevOps tools like Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, GitHub, Jira, and CI/CD pipelines.

Strong background with cloud platforms (Azure preferred, AWS/Google Cloud Platform acceptable).

Hands-on experience implementing and supporting ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem, and Service Request Management).

Excellent analytical, communication, and technical leadership skills to effectively advocate for security practices and bridge the communication gap between development, security, and operations teams.

Preferred Skills & Experience

Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

Familiarity with financial services or regulated industry environments.

Certifications in Azure Security Engineer, Kubernetes Security, or similar.

Working knowledge of ETL processes, data flows, and API governance frameworks.

Certifications in Agile or SAFe frameworks.

Certifications in ITIL frameworks.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires up to 10% local travel for training, meetings, audits, or reviews. Responsible for own transportation to and from locations; eligible for mileage reimbursement per policy.

Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
