Sr Database Admin Security
Location: Austin, TX (Remote)

Role Summary:
The Database Admin Security is responsible for securing and optimizing the SQL Server database environment by aligning with Microsoft s best practices. This individual will lead security assessments, cleanup efforts, and implementation of custom security configurations to ensure robust database protection and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement Microsoft Best Practices for SQL database security
- Document Security Protocols including best practices, structure, changes, and cleanup efforts
- Establish Naming Conventions for security groups and roles
- Clean Orphaned Accounts in SQL to reduce vulnerabilities
- Review Service Accounts to assess and improve security properties
- Secure Passwords:
- Eliminate clear-text password storage
- Implement password encryption or Managed Service Accounts with rotating passwords
- Leverage Azure Password Vault as needed
- Custom Security Roles:
- Review existing roles and permissions
- Create custom roles to align with security policies
- Implement Database Auditing & Logging:
- Track user activity
- Detect and flag security incidents
Ideal Candidate Should Have:
Strong experience in SQL Server administration and security
Hands-on experience with security auditing, orphaned account cleanup, and permissions management
Knowledge of Microsoft Best Practices for SQL security
Familiarity with Azure services, especially Azure Password Vault Experience creating and maintaining detailed documentation
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality of sensitive data
