Job Title: Middleware Administrator
Location: NC - Hybrid
Position Summary:
The Middleware Administrator will support, maintain, and optimize enterprise-grade middleware platforms vital to Client's critical applications, focusing primarily on JBOSS and IBM WebSphere Application Server.
This role is responsible for installation, configuration, performance tuning, upgrades, and troubleshooting of middleware software across complex, high-availability environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, administer, and optimize middleware platforms, primarily JBOSS and IBM WebSphere Application Server, supporting mission-critical banking platforms.
- Perform daily monitoring, incident management, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of middleware-related incidents.
- Plan and implement version upgrades, fix packs, and security patches for JBOSS and WebSphere; ensure all middleware environments are compliant with organization s IT security standards.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain additional platforms such as Apache, Tomcat, and IBM HTTP Server as required.
- Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and security teams to support application deployments, resolve performance issues, and ensure scalability and stability of hosted systems.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts for deployment, monitoring, and maintenance tasks (using shell, Python, or Jython), and participate in workflow automation initiatives.
- Perform backup and recovery of middleware configurations and document operational procedures.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation for production support and change management activities.
- Document platforms, changes, and solutions, and provide knowledge transfer and training to peers and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of experience administering enterprise middleware platforms, including both JBOSS and IBM WebSphere Application Server.
- Proficiency with Linux/UNIX system environments and shell scripting.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with automation and configuration management tools.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience with secure configuration, patching, and vulnerability management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting middleware in the financial services industry or other regulated enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of additional middleware products (e.g., Tomcat, Apache, IBM HTTP Server).
- Familiarity with DevOps tools and concepts, including CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience with application integration, clustering, high availability, and disaster recovery planning for middleware environments.
- Certification(s) in WebSphere, JBOSS, or relevant enterprise technologies.
