This is a hybrid position. Candidates MUST live within commuting distance of the Clifton, NJ .

Location: Clifton, NJ

Duration: 6+ Months

We are seeking a Tertiary Vault Backup Engineer to assist with the build-out and support of a new tertiary vault environment in Clifton, NJ.

Candidates will be responsible for configuring and managing backup, restore and replication using NetBackup, Data Domain, Commvault, & VAST. The role includes ensuring reliable client connectivity and data protection across environments. Candidates should have hands-on experience with enterprise backup solutions and possess strong networking and troubleshooting skills. Strong oral and written communication skills are a must.

In this role, you will:

  • Plan and perform regular maintenance tasks on data protection infrastructure such as software version upgrades, firmware updates, data migrations and hardware diagnostics.
  • Install, upgrade and demise backup infrastructure to meet business demand and maintain the estate in-line with vendor product roadmaps.
  • Maintain backup infrastructure to mitigate security vulnerabilities and meet organizational controls such as capacity planning and evergreening.
  • Perform regular data recovery tests and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Provide consultancy and guidance on data protection standards and best practice.
  • Produce clear and comprehensive documentation and operational procedures.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Extensive experience of working with enterprise class backup software, such as Cohesity Netbackup and CommVault, at scale.
  • Extensive experience of working with enterprise class backup hardware, such as Cohesity Appliances, DELL Data Domain, CommVault Hyperscale, VAST / S3.
  • Excellent knowledge of data protection options for different technologies such as databases (Oracle, SQL, Sybase, MongoDB, DB2), and filesystems.
  • Good understanding of other storage platforms / technology such as SAN, NAS and object.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts such as VLAN, trunking, LACP, IP addressing and routing.
  • Knowledge / experience of agile working (Kanban or Scrum).
  • Experience of data protection solutions on external cloud (nice to have).
