Description

SAIC is seeking a Systems Engineer to support our FAA customers. The successful candidate will provide Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM) Flight Data Input/Output (FDIO) site implementation support.

Responsibilities include:
  • Assisting with FDIO modifications.
  • Reading site drawings.
  • Installing and validating hardware and software.
  • Cable fabrication and testing.
  • Significant travel up to 50% may be required.

Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software or engineering specifications. Provides specific, detailed information for selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. From an information technology perspective, may be concerned with floor layout, power & cooling, data storage, infrastructure management, backup, monitoring, operating systems, directory services, identity management, access management, and automation. SCOPE: N/A LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT: N/A KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY: Limited use and/or application of technical principles, theories, and concepts. Receives assignments in the form of specific tasks for the work to be completed. Work is reviewed by management to measure meeting objectives and schedules. PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Develops solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. FREEDOM TO ACT: Work is closely supervised. Follows specific, detailed instructions. IMPACT: Contributes to completion of routine technical tasks. Failure to achieve results can normally be overcome without serious effect on schedules and programs LIASON: Contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor, project leaders, and other professionals in the group.

Qualifications

Required:
  • BA/BS in a technical field including but not limited to engineering, computer science, aviation/information technology, air traffic control/management, etc. is required.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware - comparable to Comp TIA A+ certification.
  • Able to communicate with various organizations within the FAA.
  • Skilled in using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of cable paths and protocols (serial, Ethernet, Fiber).
  • Excellent communication skills using both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Ability to satisfy FAA resume and security requirements, citizenship required.

Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
