Job Title: Cloud Migration Engineer- Active Directory & Microsoft/Office 365

Location: Remote(EST)

Duration: 6+ months

Reports To: Director, Cloud Engineering

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled engineer with deep expertise in large-scale migration efforts. This role will lead all aspects of an organization s Windows Active Directory and Microsoft/Office 365 tenant migration. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical capabilities, excellent communication skills, and light project management experience.

Core Responsibilities:

• Discover, document, plan, and execute all phases of a large-scale Windows Active Directory and Microsoft/Office 365 migration.

• Migrate AD resources (users, groups, policies, endpoints) across domains/forests.
• Migrate Microsoft/Office 365 data between tenants, including identities, mailboxes, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, and groups.
• Migrate servers and associated applications across domains/forests.
• Migrate shared data and permissions across environments.

• Utilize automation via scripting, native Microsoft tools, and approved third-party utilities to streamline and standardize migration processes.
• Apply security best practices to ensure data integrity, prevent resource co-mingling, and enforce migration scope.
• Troubleshoot issues across identity, collaboration, and infrastructure layers during migration.

Communication & Collaboration:

• Provide clear written and verbal communication throughout all phases of the migration.
• Produce high-quality documentation including discovery reports, migration plans, support guides, and steady-state turnover materials.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including security, networking, messaging, DevOps, and application development.
• Engage stakeholders to gather requirements, present solutions, and manage expectations.

Leadership & Project Management:

• Serve as principal engineer for all aspects of the migration effort.
• Lead and coordinate with other engineers and SMEs involved in specific migration components.
• Plan and execute changes in accordance with change management processes.
• Partner with assigned project managers to develop and adhere to detailed project plans.

Tools & Platforms:

• Active Directory: ADUC, GPMC, DNS, DHCP
• Microsoft 365: Entra ID, Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, Intune
• Scripting & Automation: PowerShell
• Migration Tools: Such as ShareGate, AvePoint, Quest, ProfWiz, ADMT
• Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with Azure and AWS
• ITSM & Documentation: ServiceNow, Visio

Qualifications:

• Proven track record leading large-scale Active Directory and Microsoft/Office 365 migrations.
• Deep expertise in AD and Microsoft 365 environments.
• Working knowledge of Azure and AWS.
• Strong time management, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
