Position: Data Engineer III
Duration: 12 months

Compensation: $80/hr - $85/hr

Our Data Engineers blend deep technical skill with a passion for player-centric insights. As part of the Product Insights Data Team, they enable impactful, data-driven decisions across our games by designing resilient data platforms, ensuring high data quality, and delivering at scale.
As a Staff Data Engineer, you will define and lead data strategies across team and initiative-level scopes, shaping data architectures that empower analysts, data scientists, and game developers to delight players. You will collaborate across disciplines, driving scalable systems and innovative tooling. Your strategic and technical leadership will influence game insights and engineering culture across product lines.
Responsibilities
Define and lead data engineering cross-team initiatives aligned to business goals.
Architect and implement robust, scalable data systems and reusable data marts to support analytics and predictive modeling.
Own the end-to-end design, implementation, and optimization of data pipelines and telemetry systems.
Drive data modeling using industry best practices (Kimball/Inmon methodologies) to support initiative-level analytics needs.
Partner with analytics, data science, and game development teams to create impactful, model-ready datasets.
Lead technical design discussions, perform tradeoff analyses, and ensure data architectures are resilient, scalable, and cost-efficient.
Champion data quality, governance, and operational excellence; define and uphold SLA/SLOs for data services.
Proactively set up monitoring and alerting systems to ensure data pipeline reliability and observability.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of experience in data engineering or data architecture, with a history of leading complex, high-impact initiatives.
Expertise in Python, SQL, and big data frameworks such as Spark; experience with DBT, Airflow, and Databricks.
Deep knowledge of cloud data infrastructures (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud Platform) and tools (e.g., Redshift and BigQuery).
Mastery of data modeling principles (e.g., dimensional modeling, normalization) and experience designing scalable schemas.
Proven experience leading cross-functional engineering efforts and technical design alignment.
Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Familiarity with dashboarding and visualization platforms (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI).
Experience defining and implementing data governance and documentation practices using modern cataloging tools.
Bachelor s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
Desired Qualifications
Experience designing telemetry systems for game analytics.
Familiarity with JVM-based data processing and event-streaming technologies (Kafka, Flink).
Experience evaluating and implementing data platform tooling across business units.
Contributions to data reliability, testing, and CI/CD practices in data engineering contexts.
Prior experience influencing BU-level data strategies or shaping roadmap alignment.
