Systems Engineer - SaaS & Cloud Systems

We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our Engineering Team at Auxiom. This role is ideal for highly skilled individuals with deep experience designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise-grade cloud solutions. This position will focus heavily on Microsoft 365, Intune, Entra ID (Azure AD), Duo Security, and other SaaS platforms. Candidates should have a demonstrated track record of leading projects, architecting hybrid/cloud-first environments, and mentoring junior engineers. As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for managing complex infrastructure projects and providing expert-level escalation support. You will contribute to the standardization of best practices, collaborate closely with Professional Services and Managed Services teams, and guide clients through secure and scalable IT transformations.

This role also includes participation in internal infrastructure planning and innovation initiatives. In this role, 60% of your time will be spent doing client project work and 40% of your time will be working on Auxiom internal initiatives related to SaaS applications, Identity Management, and other systems related initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and lead deployments of Microsoft 365, Intune, Entra ID and Duo Security across diverse client environments.
• Serve as a escalation point for advanced issues in Microsoft cloud services, identity, and device management.
• Design and enforce scalable compliance, security, and conditional access policies using Microsoft 365 and Intune.
• Oversee hybrid identity and federation implementations, including Azure AD Connect, SSO, and MFA solutions.
• Own and refine technical standards and infrastructure documentation across projects and operational efforts.
• Lead infrastructure migrations, SaaS integrations, and complex remediation projects from planning to execution. Mentor junior and mid-level engineers; assist with technical development and knowledge transfer.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate and recommend new technologies and process improvements.
• Conduct system performance audits, root-cause analysis, and security posture reviews.
• Participate in the after-hours escalation rotation and high-impact incident response efforts.

Required Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of experience in engineering, systems administration, or infrastructure consulting roles.
• Expertise with Microsoft 365, Intune, Azure AD / Entra ID, Conditional Access, and Duo Security.
• Proficiency in PowerShell and scripting for automation and system configuration.
• Strong understanding of hybrid Active Directory environments, Group Policy, DNS, and identity lifecycle management.
• Demonstrated experience leading infrastructure projects and architecting scalable solutions.
• In-depth knowledge of email security, including SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and spam filtering.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and interface directly with client stakeholders.
• Familiarity with ITIL practices and change management workflows.
• Hands-on experience with MSP toolsets such as Autotask, IT Glue, and RMM platforms.
• Ability to assess and remediate security risks in complex IT environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft certifications such as MS-102, AZ-104, SC-300, or equivalent expert-level credentials.
• Experience in designing and securing hybrid or cloud-only infrastructures in compliance-driven environments.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills across Windows Server, M365, and virtualization platforms.
• Experience training or mentoring engineering teams.
• Background in working within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) is highly valued.
