Job Description:
- The Systems Engineering Lead drives model-based systems engineering (MBSE) strategy and modeling architecture for major DoD system development programs.
- This role integrates advanced systems engineering practices into complex defense projects, ensuring effective design, analysis, integration, and verification across the lifecycle.
- You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, program leadership, and military customers to deliver robust, mission-focused solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead MBSE methodology development and implementation in alignment with DoD standards.
- Develop system modeling architectures supporting requirements allocation, verification, trade studies, functional and mission modeling, and design optimization.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to embed MBSE practices throughout system development.
- Use tools such as Cameo/MagicDraw, MATLAB, and related platforms for modeling, analysis, and design.
- Execute systems engineering activities including architecture design, requirements engineering, V&V, and risk management.
- Manage systems engineering processes from concept through deployment, ensuring compliance with specifications and standards.
- Conduct system-level trade analyses, including cost, performance, and operational impacts.
- Collaborate with software, hardware, and domain SMEs to develop optimized architecture and design solutions.
- Oversee integration, verification, and validation to ensure compliance with functional and performance requirements.
- Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies addressing safety, security, and interoperability concerns.
- Work with project managers to support planning, schedule tracking, and milestone execution.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation including system specs, design artifacts, test plans, and reports.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and regulatory stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- S. in engineering or related discipline (2+ years for Level II; 5+ years for Level III).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Customer-facing experience and ability to build strong working relationships.
- Hands-on experience applying MBSE principles and developing SysML models.
- Experience with DOORS or similar requirements management tools.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
