Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Informatics Specialist to join our Core Informatics team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and supporting interfaces for public health data interoperability. This position involves strategic planning and collaboration to improve public health informatics solutions. Opportunities for hybrid/remote work are available, and the role may require some travel and public speaking engagements.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in designing, testing, and implementing electronic interfaces using HL7 FHIR standards.
  • Apply informatics principles for data transport and interoperability.
  • Provide technical support and expertise for HL7 FHIR projects, including documentation and troubleshooting.
  • Lead strategic planning to assess and build FHIR readiness within the agency.
  • Maintain and contribute to the development of public health interoperability standards.
  • Participate in interoperability-related meetings and discussions, providing technical recommendations.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health informatics, epidemiology, computer science, or a related field with 5 years of relevant HL7 FHIR experience.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and detail-oriented skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-agency team.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD or Master’s degree in a related field with 2 years of relevant HL7 FHIR experience.
  • Experience with FHIR implementation and interface work in public health or clinical systems.
  • Familiarity with HL7 FHIR implementation guides and EDI engines like Rhapsody.
  • Experience in delivering technical training on FHIR standards.
  • Proven ability to align technical workflows with public health priorities.
