Senior DB2 LUW DBA

Location: Onsite, Pleasant Prairie, WI

Overview

Client is seeking an experienced Senior DB2 LUW Database Administrator to join its growing IT team in Pleasant Prairie, WI. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record supporting mission-critical, high-availability DB2 LUW databases in enterprise environments. This is a full-time, onsite role focused on performance, reliability, and security in a dynamic business setting.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain DB2 LUW databases on Linux/Unix platforms.
  • Lead efforts in database performance tuning, capacity planning, and SQL optimization.
  • Administer backup, recovery, high availability (HADR), and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to deploy and support new projects and changes.
  • Ensure security, compliance, and proper user management within the database environment.
  • Automate routine DBA tasks, monitoring, and reporting via scripting.
  • Serve as a technical mentor for junior DBAs and share best practices.
  • Provide after-hours and on-call database support as needed.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
  • 10+ years experience as a DB2 LUW DBA in production environments.
  • Deep knowledge of DB2 installation, upgrades, patching, and troubleshooting.
  • Expertise in HADR, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Advanced SQL and performance tuning abilities.
  • Experience with both RHEL and AIX operating systems.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and documentation skills.

 

Preferred Experience

 

  • At least 5 to 7 years of work experience in the USA.
  • Experience working with warehouse or distribution clients.
  • Exposure to automation tools and scripting for database management.
  • Familiarity with ETL tools and large-scale data integration.
  • Experience in supply chain, warehousing, or distribution industry IT environments.
  • Cross-platform DBA experience (SQL Server, Oracle, NoSQL).
