Role: AWS Data Engineer
Location: Edison, NJ (Hybrid 2 days)
Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced AWS Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data infrastructure on AWS. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with AWS Glue, Redshift, Aurora, EMR, and PySpark, and will be responsible for implementing efficient ETL/ELT workflows, data transformations, and integrations across multiple systems.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS Glue and PySpark.
- Build and manage data lakes and data warehouses leveraging S3, Redshift, and EMR.
- Integrate structured and unstructured data from multiple sources, including Aurora and other relational databases.
- Optimize data ingestion, transformation, and loading for performance and cost efficiency.
- Develop reusable data transformation components and automation scripts.
- Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions.
- Implement data governance, data quality, and metadata management best practices.
- Ensure security, compliance, and operational excellence in all data solutions built on AWS.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines and workflows.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5 10 years of total experience in data engineering or big data environments.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS data services: Glue, Redshift, EMR, Aurora, S3, and Lambda.
- Strong programming experience with PySpark and Python.
- Solid understanding of ETL/ELT design patterns, data modeling (dimensional/star schema), and performance tuning.
- Experience with SQL and performance optimization in large-scale data environments.
- Knowledge of IAM, CloudWatch, CloudFormation/Terraform for infrastructure management.
- Familiarity with data lake architecture, real-time streaming (Kinesis, Kafka), and DevOps/CI-CD principles is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
