SCADA/Automation Technician

Location: North Dakota

Relocation: fine, but needs to be onsite day 1

SUMMARY:

Our client has significant assets in the Bakken operations area in North Dakota. Production is from two different areas and roughly 1,000 wells and a number of production facilities. This SCADA/Automation Technician is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the Bakken Asset SCADA system and Automated Facility Controls. This will be a field-based position and will require daily travel to field locations. The SCADA/Automation Technician works closely with production operations, I&E technicians, Engineering teams, and SCADA Administrators. The position reports to the Bakken Construction and Engineering organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The SCADA/Automation Technician will be responsible for understanding and implementing the complete automation scope of work on all facilities

Assist in leading a team during the commissioning of production facilities

Set clear HES performance expectations. Ensure all HES policies and procedures are understood and followed in the field

Conduct and document functional checkouts (FCO) on new and existing facilities and equipment, including MOC compliance.

Ability to safely make live field adjustments to ROC800/associated controllers based on current scope and updated C&E/Control narratives

Work with SCADA admins and Engineering to ensure all data is coming into SCADA accurately and matches the C&E, as well as the control narrative

Assist in the review of C&E documents and ensure facility program has proper set points and ranges

Perform PSSR's on all-new facility and equipment installations and major maintenance work

Notify and work with Engineering on document discrepancies and redline all field changes

Responsible for modifying the RTU and HMI program from a master template program

Ability to identify proper calibration of all measurement instruments and end devices, including setup and configuration

Maintain Oil / Water pipeline systems and control platforms

Ability to retain information and remain coachable on new ideas/systems/procedures

Work with Maintenance and operations teams to troubleshoot and repair any SCADA and Communications issues in a timely manner to optimize facility and pipeline uptime and data accuracy, self-managing task priority.

Ability to understand Programming and monitoring of all facility control systems in the asset.

Instrumentation repair/support and troubleshooting misc. equipment

Utilize different styles of testing equipment to perform troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair to restore proper operation of automation devices and systems

QUALIFICATIONS:

ROC800/DS800 & Emerson product experience is a requirement

FB3000/FBxNET designer exposure is required

Basic knowledge in ABB XRC G4 & G5, Allen Bradley RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, Studio5000/HMI programs including factory talk view is preferred

Communication Protocols: TCP/IP, Modbus RTU & TCP, HART.

Instrumentation Experience: Pressure, Flow, Temperature, Vibration, Level and Actuated valves

Crimson Software and related red lion products (all versions) preferred

Familiarity with Artificial Lift Systems

General understanding of proper low voltage control wiring (less than 48vdc)

Experience with control systems industry standards

Education: High School diploma or equivalent

Experience: 7+ years' experience with similar job responsibilities

Upstream/production Oil & Gas Industry experience is required
