What You'll Do:

This role includes a wide variety of activities associated with all aspects of Advanced Metering Infrastructure [AMI - Smart Meters] deployment, AMI technology evaluation, testing of these systems and production support of the AMI and systems.

Some duties include:
  • Meter regression testing of AMI firmware revisions.
  • RFP development and evaluation
  • Contract and scope of work processes development.
  • Vendor interaction.
  • Training
  • Documentation
  • Operating company coordination and issues resolution.

Additional requirements beyond the Engineering general requirements include:
  • Possess basic level knowledge plus demonstrate proficiency in the application of "theory to solution" of well-defined problems or to analyze without guidance.
  • Demonstrates competency in analytical techniques necessary to handle assignments of moderate complexity. [e.g. divide a problem into steps and perform the analysis necessary to complete each step.
  • Exhibits the ability to understand interrelationships between systems, components, devices and processes.
  • Demonstrates the ability to analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes.
  • Lead and coordinates work activities of others within the work group, department or other corporate entity as necessary to complete routine and project activities. Including interaction with AMI system and Meter vendors, Operating Companies, peer groups such as Dolan and Canton Labs, Telecom, and IT.
  • Performs routine engineering activity with minimum direction from higher level employees.
  • Follows policies, practices, standards and rules of the company and those regulation and procedures required by external agencies.
  • Provides training and guidance to other employees and those supported by Consumer Technologies
  • Stay abreast of AMI technologies.
  • Development of AMI test cases and coordination of test case planning and execution.
  • Completion of cost estimates.

Other Requirements:
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have an understanding of National Electric Code.
  • Must have familiarization with Micro Station or related GIS software such as Auto Cad.

What We're Looking For:

Meter Engineer Assc:

This is an entry level position for new graduates with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*

Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred.

Basic Qualifications: Meter Engineer:

Has typically acquired two - four (2-4) or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*.

Individuals with a Master's degree in engineering from an engineering program accredited by ABET* may be considered for entry into the organization at this level.

Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred.

*ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.

Acceptable alternatives are:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S. OR
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.
