Job Details

Title: Sr. Mechanical Engineer (from Aerospace, Aircraft, Drones, or UAVs)


Location: onsite in Tampa, FL
Length of Contract: 2-3 months

Ideal Start Date: Nov 10th

Hours: 40 hours per week minimum
Scope: Client has an unmanned fixed wing aircraft program underway that is requiring some design changes. They initially planned for a pneumatic launching setup but now require a new design, new payload, new bracket designs (they use SolidWorks) and have FEA analysis to help. Are looking for someone with static experience and understanding of how to calculate loads a bracket will experience during launch of this fixed wing aircraft and to plan around the sub systems part.


There are also topics of developing new design for heat transfer and considering ways to design heat sinks for all the composite parts. Also, Aluminum brackets that will be required DFM (design for manufacturability) as they design with a deadline looming.
MUSTs:
--SolidWorks (any version from 2020 up as they are now on version 2025)
--Statics experience for structures & load calculations
--DFM (design for manufacturability)
--Aerospace, aircraft, drones, UAVs or related design applications
--Design and documentation standards (GD&T, ASME, Change Control, etc.)
PLUS:
--Heat transfer and exp with designing heat sinks
--Composite parts
--Aluminum parts, bracketry, mounts, etc.
--Designing machined parts, composite parts, injection molded parts, sheet metal parts, wire assemblies, and mechanical assemblies for low, medium, and high-volume manufacturing processes
--Experienced with mechanical, lab, field, flight, and environmental testing
