Job Title: Annual Planning Manager
Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid 3 days a week onsite)

JOB SUMMARY
The Annual Planning (AP) department at CenterPoint Energy drives enterprise-wide planning by identifying key activities and optimizing resource allocation to maximize value for the company. The Annual Planning Manager plays a pivotal role in strengthening this capability, supporting strategy implementation and corporate development. This role partners with business units to identify and prioritize critical transform the business and run the business initiatives in both short and mid-term to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Support the business units identifying the critical transform the business (i.e., initiatives) and run the business activities in the mid and short term, either via structured Hoshin workshops or ad-hoc meetings/activities for different management teams. Strong resulting plans would have clear KPIs, targets (vs. actuals), and inform FP&A labor and non-labor projections for the following year
- Serve as advisory board for initiative evaluation, prioritization, and feedback
- Model financial risk, cost, and return of initiatives as input for initiative prioritization; for select, transformational initiatives, design value tracking in conjunction with lean and finance
- Support business units converting high-level initiatives and asset plans into actionable plans for the different management levels with clear KPIs (i.e., tier-down plans); provide templates, training, guidelines, and resources to develop project charters and tactical implementation plans
- Interface with the lean office to help business units bring annual planning outputs and metrics to the lean operating system (daily, weekly, monthly operating reviews). Support management of change where applicable
- Champion AP best practices at the director and manager level:
- Enhance awareness of CenterPoint s ambitions and AP processes, and
- educate and empower leaders to tier-down plans and design tactical implementation
- Coordinate accurate completion and documentation of corporate plan unifying different views from stakeholders across functions
- Provide relevant inputs and effectively interface with related departments: [long term] strategy, long term capital planning, M&A, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, Continuous Improvement
- Prepare and deliver presentations, proposals, and reports to senior management, directors, and managers
EDUCATION DESCRIPTION
- Background in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline
- MBA highly desired
- Proficiency in financial and data analysis
- MS Office Suite
EXPERIENCE
- 8+ years of experience in financial planning, business analysis, or a related role, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1+ years of experience in consulting, strategy, or corporate development, preferably management consulting
- 3+ years of experience in utilities is highly desirable
- Experience in corporate planning is a plus
- Experience in executive presentations, written and oral communication
- Strong ability to translate complex business concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Able to communicate either written and verbal communications either in person or through technical equipment such as telephone.
- Able to demonstrate and apply the manual dexterity to operate a personal computer and common office equipment.
- Able to work a varied schedule with projects and deadlines requiring the ability to meet changing demands.
- Able to distinguish color.
