Description
Our client is seeking a snowflake lead to join their team. The enterprise (Canada-based) has began the journey to Snowflake, however the US Based teams have not yet started that migration. They are going to begin migrating (from several disperse systems) to Snowflake in 2025. The team is looking for a Lead Snowflake Engineer, someone who can educate others on Snowflake and lead a team of engineers. The organization is still maturing their data domains and are starting the journey of migrating to snowflake, and this person will be a go-to from a technical perspective. There is also a Snowflake architect on this team who the lead will partner closely with.
Must have:
  • Strong understanding of Cloud Data Lakehouse architectural pattern
  • Hands on experience on Cloud Data Lakehouse implementation including:
  • Experience with Snowflake troubleshooting and performance tuning
  • Strong understanding of the underlying Snowflake technology around data storage, security and infrastructure
  • Experience in leading, mentoring, and providing technical direction to a team of Data Engineers
  • Proven experience working with business resource in developing data domain
  • Experience with Financial Industry domain is a plus

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Need data modeling, data quality, data management experience, strong snowflake experience
  • Experience with domain based consumption assets (modeling). The organization currently consumes app data without cleansing it/modeling it.
  • Python
  • ETL experience (may end up using informatica cloud). Need to understand batch and real time pipelines, data consumption, etc.
  • Need to understand data warehousing and data management.
  • Prior leadership experience, doesn't need to be by title, but need to have experience leading a team of engineers
  • Familiar with Data engineering principles, toolsets and best practices
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience developing complex queries and stored procedure
  • Automation/scripting experience
  • Proven experience with Snowflake (3-5 years)
  • Understanding of Snowflake roles and user security
  • Familiarity with Snowflake features such as SnowSQL, Snowpipe, Streams, and Tasks
  • Experience designing solution leveraging Snowflake native capabilities
  • Hands-on experience with ingestion and transformation
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure
  • Knowledge on one or more skills in the flowing list which include
  • Coding Languages,
  • Relational & Non-relational databases,
  • ETL (Extract, Transform & Load) systems/tools,
  • Data storage (On-prem, Cloud),

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85.00 - $100.00/hr.
