Job Details

Job Summary
Leads and coordinates Unix and Linux project, maintenance and support activities as well as the enterprise backup processes. Leads efforts of the Information Technology security team. Provides trouble-shooting on Linux and Unix workstations and servers. Mentor and coach in the Linux and Unix team. Participant in the Information Technology Strategic Planning. Participant in the IT Leadership team.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required

Education:
Require Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred with emphasis in Computer Science. Equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.

Experience:
Five years or greater experience in Linux/Unix administration required. Previous experience in Information Technology security required. Previous management/leadership experience preferred.

Additional skills/abilities:
Extensive knowledge of Linux and Unix systems required. IBM AIX, HP HPUX, Linux. Extensive knowledge of IT security principals, processes, tools and techniques. Knowledge of LAN technologies, particularly communication concepts, protocols (TCP/IP particularly on Unix platforms), DNS, SAN solutions and mail configurations. Knowledge of Networking via OSI layer model. Ability to analyze, and coordinate multiple technologies and concepts effectively. Excellent communication skills and people skills.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  1. Directly responsible for projects, system purchases, maintenance/refresh and support functions of the Linux/Unix team.
  2. Leads the IT technical team in the assessment, definition, implementation and maintenance of Huntsville Hospital s IT security plan, including the review, update and maintenance of all security policies and procedures.
  3. Provides guidance and support for Information Technology security and assists the Information Technology Security Officer in daily activities.
  4. Enforces corporate policy and procedures regarding security and system utilization.
  5. Define and manage the implementation and ongoing support of all firewalls.
  6. Consults, in collaboration with the Linux/Unix Administrators, with end users that require Linux/Unix services.
  7. Defines hardware and software specifications in collaboration with Linux and Unix Administrators.
  8. Assures, oversees and maintains all system documentation.
  9. Shares on-call support with Linux and Unix Administrators.
  10. Performs special projects as requested by the Network Director.
  11. Assists the Network Director in the research, evaluation, and implementation of new Linux/Unix technologies and services.
  12. Member of the Information Technology Leadership Team.
